Multiple problems with startup and undocking

I just got ISBoxer a few days ago, and I love the product. However, I'm having the following problems and I'd like to know if anyone else has seen them and could point me in the right direction for solutions;

1) EVE Online shortcut made from IS Boxer suite doesn't always work on the first try. It could take three double clicks to get it started. I see the Win7 timer go round and round, but nothing happens after that. I once waited 15 minutes to see if it could finally go, but it didn't. Second or third try usually gets the program going.
2) Interesting counter to the above is I don't have any problems launching the game from InnerSpace in the item tray.
3) Sporadically, one account out of three or six, depending on which set I use, would be black screened. Pattern is random, so it's not always the same account that black screens.
4) Docking and undocking is producing disturbing numbers of black screens. I could press "ESC" and log off/on to get it back. I don't have such problems before using ISBoxer, so I'd rather not retro DX11 to DX9, is there another solution?

As stated, I like IS Boxer, and I'm sure these problems are just learning curve and growing pains.

1. If Inner Space isn't already running, then the shortcut is going to have to launch it. If Inner Space wasn't already running AND has a patch available, it's going to patch.
2. You're avoiding any of the possible causes of not launching right away by already having Inner Space running

3/4. Yes, it is strange that EVE produces this behavior. There is no similar way to cause this behavior in any other game. This problem seemed to have gone away (or at least wasn't reported for an entire year) after CCP fixed/changed something before, but is being reported again now since the release of Hyperion. I will try to look into it but it may be something CCP regressed.

Re: Multiple problems with startup and undocking

I still see these problems-
1) On log-in, even with InnerSpace in the system tray, shortcuts from ISBoxer tool kit doesn't work without multiple tries. I always wait at least 5 minutes between tries, just to observe what happens in that time.
2) Logging-in through InnerSpace in system tray always works without a hitch.
3) Logging into EVE accounts still producing random blackscreens of one account. So far no more than one has blackened.
3) Still getting blackscreens from one of a party. Maybe it's just coincidence, but the lower left screen seems to have more blackouts. Haven't seen multiple blackscreens yet, but about one in three undocking produce a single blackout. Doesn't seem to happen as often docking up, but that might be due to log out/log in of the original blackscreened account.

What's everyone else seeing? Are you running DirectX11 or 9?

Right click Inner Space and select Console. When you launch your team via any method, it will say here what it is trying to do.

Pulling up InnerSpace console and then logging into EVE is working well. I've seen no black screens in the six log-in, undock, mission runs, and dock sequences over yesterday and this morning. Unless it's luck or randomness, I'd call the problem solved. Of course, the logical follow-up question is, if the console scheme continues to work, what's in console mode that mitigates EVE black screens of death?

Absolutely nothing. The main Inner Space "Uplink" window is a Direct3D 11 window when you have it open. (9 if 11 is not available on the system) The Console is a window within the Uplink window.

Generally you want the IS Uplink window minimized because it *can* affect performance, including mouse broadcasting performance.

CCP made some changes on their end, possibly coinciding with this being fixed for you at that time:

Thanks everyone for your reports so far. I've made some changes to the build we have just updated to Singularity. If anyone who was previously able to reproduce the issue there is able to update their test clients and see how it behaves now, I'd be very interested in your feedback.

If this black screen issue is continuing for anyone, I would highly recommend checking/posting on the linked thread. Posting here doesn't hurt either, it does help to know how many people are having issues

Another tip to mitigate the problem at launch time: In your ISBoxer Character Set (select it in the top left pane) there is an option "Launch each Character ___ seconds after another is ready" and it is set to 1 second by default. You may be able to bump this to 2 or 3 seconds to work around this issue until fixed

I can confirm after this latest patch (9th September) all my issues with black screens have been resolved.

Fix for a 'black-screen' client issue that primarily affected multibox users, causing the client to display occasionally a permanent black screen when performing a session change such as undocking or jumping

It was caused by a concurrency issue when multiple clients made requests for certain server resources simultaneously and tried to cache the results, that only triggered under very particular cache states. The caching operations of one client could then corrupt the state of another, if that second client tried to read from the cache at a critical moment.

Ironically I think that the more you worked to reduce system latency, the higher the chance of encountering this bug might have been. A slower PC that had to hit the disk more often was probably less likely to trigger it, as there was less chance of two clients performing the necessary sequence of operations concurrently.
