Trying to figure this out....

Hello, I just bought the 2 year sub and after several days of messing around finally got a setup I like. However, I would like to setup a way to have a macro to activate my weapons. I do not use isboxer like most. I wanted it so I could setup 3 clients that do totally different things on one screen instead of using 2. So right now I have 1 char running missions and 1 character ratting and another character scanning or doing whatever. I usually use a keyboard macro, where I activate the window press one button and F1-F4 are activated. But this macro doesnt seem to work through the viewer. Is there a way that I can set this up where no matter which window is active a certain key press will activate those keys on another window? Or at least set it up where 1 button will do it on the active screen? Sucks having to click each module every time a npc dies since I am using 3x target painter and missiles.

I have tried looking into key maps and click bars but I suck at technical stuff and do not understand anything.

Thanks for any help you guys can offer me.

I also would like to know how to minimize the game clients, I can hit win+D and they minimize but the second I try to open something on the desktop they pop right back up.

You're looking for the Mapped Key Wizard. It's mostly painless. It almost doesn't require an explanation but here's what you do:
1. Under Wizards select Mapped Key Wizard
2. Select a Key Map to put the Hotkeys in; you may only have "Always On" if you have a default setup for EVE. The drawback of putting these under "Always On" is that you can't toggle the Hotkey off, so you might also consider creating a new Key Map for them first (right click Key Maps, select New Key Map, name it something, and then add it to your Character Set)
3. Select the type of Mapped Key to create. If you want to send the same key you press, select "Straight Key Broadcast"; if you want to send a different key than the one you press, select "Key Re-Map"
4. On the last page it lets you set up one or more keys (re-map will only do one at a time, straight key broadcast will do as many as you want). pick the key you press, the key to send, and where to send them to
5. Finish the wizard
6. Export to Inner Space

I also would like to know how to minimize the game clients, I can hit win+D and they minimize but the second I try to open something on the desktop they pop right back up.

You cannot minimize the game clients if you have a Window Layout. They will do their best to stay in the defined Window Layout. You should be able to Win+D and *activate a non-game window*, and the game windows will not automatically pop back up. They will come back up if Windows automatically reactivates one of the game windows, which can happen if you have nothing else running already. I'm using Win+D just fine with my game windows all running and using a Window Layout like this.

Thanks for the help, unfortunately I still can't seem to get it.

Basically in a more simple way of putting it. I want to press K (or any single key) and have it press F1,F2,F3,F4 on the other screen or on the active screen. I have a microsoft sidewinder keyboard and it has 6 shortcut keys you can bind stuff to. For one of them I use a macro. So I press the S6 keyboard key and it automatically presses F1 F2 F3 F4 for me. For some reason this doesn't work when using isboxer though so I am looking for a replacement for that.

I tried using the remap, so I tried to tell it when I press K to press F1-F4 it would only allow me to put in 1 thing ex. F1 instead of F1-F4. What I need is a macro, instead of remapping keys.

I did not read the entire thread, but this is my quick reply...

If you'd like your keyboard macro buttons to work when running games with Inner Space, then you will need to specifically run the keyboard's software as an administrator (right-click exe > run as admin or, under the compatibility tab of the exe's properties there is a checkbox to 'always run as admin').

You will need to manually edit the Mapped Key yourself in order to accomplish that. Just navigate to it in ISBoxer (whichever Key Map you created it under) and you can see how it's built. You can then copy and paste the existing Actions and modify them to send the other F keys.

Pretty sure you're only going to get 1 key -> 1 keypress, anything else is automation!

If you are trying to get "K" to press F1+F2+F3+F4 on all your Eve clients, assuming that's the default weapon activiation shortcuts, why not just group your weapons up so they're all on F1, then use a keymap for K -> F1.

Re: Trying to figure this out....

You can put in multiple keystroke actions, and ISBoxer will combine them all when it sends them to the clients. So, for example, you have F1 -> All, F2 -> All, F3 -> All, and F4 -> All in the same step of the mapped key, ISBoxer will send F1+F2+F3+F4 to all games at the same time. This isn't automation, it's the same thing as you'd get by manually mashing all 4 buttons at once.

Re: Trying to figure this out....

Automation isn't against the TOS if it requires user imput and doesn't run constantly. Using Macros that press more than 1 button with only one button press is perfectly legal and tons of people do it.

I have no interest in pressing F1 f2 and f3 and f4 every time I kill something. Also the eve client will not let you bind the same shortcut to more than one module. I already tried making each module be activated with the same keystroke. Hopefully setting up my keyboard software to run in admin mode will allow me to use the macros I have been using for years now.

Thanks for the replies and the help.

Yes let's not derail threads with scaremongering/dissemination of bad information. "1 key -> 1 keypress" is false even for the game that came from. Let's keep on-topic, thanks.

Re: Trying to figure this out....

Well, consider me enlightened... I honestly was just trying to be helpful as I thought it was all about 1 key resulting in 1 keypress on each client!

Re: Trying to figure this out....

Well as others said before you can use the same macros you have always used but you will need to run whatever macro software whether it be keyboard drivers or autohotkey as an administrator for it to be able to interact with Isboxer.

If you want keypresses to work while simply mousing over a viewer you need to make sure your viewers have Repeater Passthrough and Keyboard Passthrough enabled in the settings box.
