new videocard

Hello,

I am currently running 2x sli 460SE 1GB versions, And i am starting to get annoyed by the little to medium amount of lag sometimes. So i am in the market for a new video card.

Now i got a few questions, will it be worth to upgrading to a 4gb vram card and is that where my lag issue is coming from? And from me running 5040x1050?

say a 3gb 7950, or a 4gb 760, or 4gb 770, will i see a vast improvement?

I used to run @ 95% CPU usage, but it has reduced to about 75-85%

15 accounts, and i would like to run more.

What is you guys opinion?

i5-2500k
32gig ram
2x 460se 1gb

Edit**

running 11 accounts and i see in gpu-z
both cards are running about 966-1020mb of ram ( so pretty much max or just about)
and about 25-30% of gpu ussage
while getting 50-85% cpu ussage

I have a feeling it is a little bit of cpu and cpu issues, but wanting to hear you guys thoughts <3
i would love to hear from someone soon, so maybe i can go buy new hardware today =)

Re: new videocard

I would say your i5 CPU is probably a bit underpowered for that number of instances, and that's going to be more of a problem than your dual video cards. If you want to run 15+ accounts, a true 6 or 8-core CPU will probably be your friend. One powerful GPU would help as well, but I'd point at your CPU as the main bottleneck here, especially for expanding to more accounts

One problem with replacing CPU, 6 core intel is quad channel memory(lga2011)? and i got 32 gigs of dual channel memory. So thats 550 for new processor 250 for mobo, and another 250 for new ram? that just works out too much =(

Dual channel and quad channel memory are physically the same thing. If it fits in the slot it should work just fine.

Also, if you're currently sitting at ~85% CPU usage, you don't really need a 6-core processor, but because the 2500K lacks hyper-threading, it's taking a beating when it's trying to multi-task. A current gen CPU like a 4770K should be absolutely fine for eliminating the bottleneck that you're currently experiencing.

Just as a quick comparison, this link shows that the new 4770K has more horsepower and is overall faster. There are no gaming benchmarks in that link, but honestly a new 4770K is not going to perform worse than a 2500K, especially when multiboxing with hyper-threading.

Re: new videocard

In the meantime, box the number of accounts that get you a smooth enough performance.

Start with your video card upgrade...
That's going to work with your current system, and will be part of your next system too.

If getting the Motherboard, Processor and Ram is too much all at once.
Save a bit each check or whatever.
I like to buy everything at once, but my friend is okay purchasing a piece at a time and gradually assembling his system over time.

It's up to you really...
If you want the system, and cannot afford it all at once... do it over time.
Whether you're saving for a bulk system purchase or buying pieces gradually.

The video card is a good start, since it can go into the current system, so it is useful immediately.

yeah hyperthreading is roundrobin cpu settings right? I dont know i guess i will think about it, i would hate to buy a 6 core ivy bridge, when 6 core haswell is soon? meh need more multiboxing more MORE

Whatever works best for you. That's why the options for assigning cores (among most other things) are heavily customizable.

6/8-Core Haswell-E chips won't be out until the end of next year. They'll need an entirely new chipset/motherboard and RAM than anything that's on the market today.
