DX11 & the Control Panel cause massive performance hits

The issue occurs when you use the control panel while running the DX11 version.

I think this has been known for a while, is a fix possible?

This is an issue that has been around for several months. Here's a workaround for the time being, it has to do with VideoFX Viewers not playing well with DX11 when the viewers are inside a game client and the control panel is open.
To put it simply, remove viewers from your game clients or switch to Dx9 until this is fixed.

Yea i've know about it for a while, however DX11 is supposed to bring some significant improvements to EVE (eventually), so I started trying to run in DX11 to flesh out stability issues etc.

If you want to run in DX11 you will need to wait for this issue to get fixed or deal with the lag when the control panel is open.
Another option would be to set up your window layouts while forcing DX9 and then switch to DX11 when you are done making changes.
