Ragefire anti ISBoxer crowd

Any comments on the rather toxic environment? Or any plans to get on the forums and defend ISBoxer?

I'm amazed at all the stuff ISBoxer is supposed to be able to do (according to the forum). I think many people have equated it with MQ2.

In many ways, I think there is more ISBoxer hatred than MQ2 hatred. And I worry about the future of ISBoxer if the crowds with the pitchforks and burning torches win out.

I've been multiboxing since 2000, and never seen it like this. I think I started using InnerSpace around 2004-2005.

What's the point of going over to a forum full of religious zealots to tell them God is a fallacy, the bible is a work of fiction and that faith in either is due to a lack of fulfillment within themselves.

I could only think of Rage, Fire and Brimstone

I guess you are right.

Its just that it seems like Lax has worked hard to keep ISBoxer within the rules, and these folks might convince DBG to take it away.

It's nothing new that doesn't come up every three months, Progression Server or not.

Re: Ragefire anti ISBoxer crowd

I was planning to box on Ragefire, but probably only a couple of accounts (probably tank and healer). I wanted to enjoy the social element of EQ again, not rush content. But with the massive anti-box movement on the forums, Reddit and Twitter, I doubt I will for a long time to come.

Add in the fact that I'm having trouble logging in one account, never mind two (or six), the whole experience has put a huge dampener on the excitement of Ragefire for me.

I've ended up 6-boxing on Trakanon as it is a dead server (seriously, there was 1 other person in the guild lobby last night). It's not the EQ fix I was hoping for, but it's better than abuse or sitting in a queue for 2.5 hours.

Maybe when Lockjaw launches, I'll be able to log into one or other of the servers.

Re: Ragefire anti ISBoxer crowd

I admit to thinking of making changes to lessen the appearance of automation. (Nevermind the fact that there is no automation in ISBoxer). Instead of /cast messages I'm considering using socials with a blank pause of some value that changes between chars.

(While delays are forbidden within ISBoxer, I can only assume that making use of features in socials is OK to talk about. I mean SOE/DBG was the ones who implemented them)

If I really wanted to get fancy I might look into a small set of these and a roundrobin. We have 120 socials available to us without page flipping. There are addition pages which could be used if needed. Given how much I can do now with the limited number I'm using, this shouldn't be a prob.

I mention it in case someone finds the idea useful.

PS: Lockjaw is wonderful news. @firescue17 while I have no doubt that this is a recurring theme, I have not witnessed this reaction in the 14-15 years that I have multiboxed. I blame this mainly on the close quarters and limited content found in one server. Even domesticated animals will turn viscious if confined with a limited food supply. Hopefully this relieves pressure and people stop looking for someone to blame. Nevermind why they didn't blame DBG in the first place.

PPS: I haven't been logging in large number of boxes in prime time. Today I had 3 up. I figure things might settle down in a bit.

The classic fanatics will go about their way in 3 to 6 months. Then it will be business as usual for those of us invested in the game.

Re: Ragefire anti ISBoxer crowd

/giggle.

The summary of explicit statements in the last 5 years:

2012.10.24: It is not in and of itself against our rules.
2013.10.2: Window management software and key replication (although not automation) are both allowed however.

supplemented with the following:

2015.05.27: The use of ISBoxer while unattended can result in actions being taken against your account.

To which I pointed out, "We already knew that. Automated use has been acknowledged and is not supported by the boxing community anymore than any other player. It's the first sentence in the welcome message in the IRC chat. It's stickied in every forum on the website. It's hardcoded into the ISBoxer Toolkit UI."

No change is no change. Much ado about nothing.
