My Own Troubleshooting Thread!

Hey there,

I'm going to start my own thread that i can update as i see fit when i need help with issues. Rather that than spamming with the forums.

So here goes.

I want a command (Shift + CTRL + I) to invite my party of 3 and assign roles like MT and MA. I want to be able to do this from any window and and instead of assigning characters to roles i was thinking about assigning regions to roles. So i have 3 regions (characters) and i am on Region 1 hitting shift + ctrl + i then i want it to do the following (which is what i need help with). Each # is a new press of the Shift + CTRL + I :

#1 - Target Region 2 (The character)
#2 - Take invite in Region 2
#3 - Target Region 3 (The character)
#4 - Take invite on Region 3
#5 - Make Region MT/MA/Puller
#6 - /Gsay GROUP INVITE COMPLETE

I am thinking it needs to be a ISBoxer step sequence maco. I read Alge take on invites, but in all honesty i didn't understand it. Might be because im not native english speaking, or because i am slow, either is feasible.

Also i followed Alge, Firescue and MiRai's guide on all follow, but i can't get it to work for some reason, anyone able to troubleshoot it? http://www.privatepaste.com :: Paste ID 4fd8422981

I know this might be basic questions, but i really do hope you can help out.

Thanks in advance.

Re: My Own Troubleshooting Thread!

First I'd like to say that personal mega-threads where you ask 50 different questions are frowned upon because they help no one else except you. If someone else comes to this forum looking for help and they have the same question as you, they're likely to overlook your thread because the title (or the first few posts) don't match what they're looking for (yet you may have asked it on page 2, 3, or 7). We don't care if you "spam" the sub-forums with questions because that's the reason why everything is broken up -- For ease of finding information.

Second, I'm not familiar with how EQ works, but here's how a Mapped Key works:

1) You set a Hotkey that you want to press on your keyboard in order to activate the Mapped Key
2) The Mapped Key executes the Actions listed in Step 1
3) If the Mapped Key has multiple Steps, then when you continue to press the Hotkey the Steps will execute in order and start over from the beginning once you reach the final step

The Actions that you're going to be adding to your Mapped Key are most likely all going to be basic Keystroke Actions because you are trying to send keys to your game clients. The key(s) that you're sending to your game clients need to be bound to something in game. For example, if you're trying to send "T" to all of your game clients, then "T" needs to be bound to something (an ability or a macro on your action bar) in game in order to work.

Re: My Own Troubleshooting Thread!

I followed Alge's and Firerescue's threads for my basic setup.
Mine is not as involved as theirs, but is functional for my needs.
I've got a six character group.

Mapped Key: 'Paste from Clipboard'
No Hot Key.
(1 Step)
Step 1:
/ > Target: Self
Control + V > Self
Enter > Self

Mapped Key: 'Invite Group'
Hot Key: Control I
(6 Steps)
Step 1:
Keystring Action > Target: Slot 1 ..... Text is set to: invite Character2'sName
Do Mapped Key Action > Paste from Clipboard > Target: Slot 1

Step 2:
Keystroke Action > Control I > Slot 2.
Keystring Action > Target: Slot 1 ..... Text is set to: invite Character3'sName
Do Mapped Key Action > Paste from Clipboard > Target: Slot 1

Step 3:
Keystroke Action > Control I > Slot 3
Keystring Action > Target: Slot 1 ..... Text is set to: invite Character4'sName
Do Mapped Key Action > Paste from Clipboard > Target: Slot 1

Step 4:
Keystroke Action > Control I > Slot 4
Keystring Action > Target: Slot 1 ..... Text is set to: invite Character5'sName
Do Mapped Key Action > Paste from Clipboard > Target: Slot 1

Step 5:
Keystroke Action > Control I > Slot 5
Keystring Action > Target: Slot 1 ..... Text is set to: invite Character6'sName
Do Mapped Key Action > Paste from Clipboard > Target: Slot 1

Step 6:
Keystroke Action > Control I > Slot 6

I have Control I, as the in-game hotkey, to invite (or accept an invite).

This mapped key can be executed from any character.
It has my Slot 1 character, add the other character's names to their keystring (clip board).
And effectively.... / (paste invite CharacterName) <enter>
For each character in turn.
With each character doing a Control I (in-game) to accept the invite.
Basically, at the start of my session I will... Control I, pause a second, Control I, pause a second, Control I.... repeating, until all are invited, in my fixed order.
That way, I know who is in which party order, every time...
