terrible performance when played thru ISboxer

Has anyone else experienced terrible performance running multiple EQ clients via ISboxer, but not when normally running them via the regular eqgame.exe?

If I run EQ from the normal shortcut, I get 60+ fps and the game plays fine, even with 3 clients running. If I try and launch even just one client via ISboxer, I get around 30 fps, and the more clients I add the lower my fps goes across all of the clients. I have tried changing every single setting I could find in ISboxer, the FPS limiter, cpu affinity, changing background all of that. Nothing so far seems to have any impact to increasing performance via ISboxer.

I could see this being a hardware problem if I normally couldnt run 3 instances, but as of now I can fire ISboxer and get crappy performance, then load EQ up normally and have the game run just fine.

Re: terrible performance when played thru ISboxer

When I run the game completely outside Inner Space/ISBoxer I get 150+ FPS.

When I run the game by right-clicking on Inner Space and then launching a single client by Selecting Everquest, Everquest No Patch I get 60 FPS, which is what Inner Space limits the frame rate to I believe. The framerate you get using this method would help diagnose the cause.

When I load up 6 clients I get 30 FPS foreground/ 30 FPS background and follow works well even with a bard playing Selo's in the group. (Follow in EQ seems to be framerate dependent - I get better results if foreground and background are set to the sane rate). This is using a stacked full screen window layout.

All of this leads me to believe that while what you are seeing is frustrating for you it is not typical. We just need to find the cause...

Some suggestions...

Try EQ in both windowed mode and fullscreen mode.
Ensure your in-game resolution matches your monitor's default resolution.
Turn off "Use instant window swapping" in your window layout in ISBoxer.
Link your ISBoxer config through privatepaste here using these instructions in case there are issues with it.

Finally,

If I run EQ from the normal shortcut, I get 60+ fps and the game plays fine, even with 3 clients running. If I try and launch even just one client via ISboxer, I get around 30 fps, and the more clients I add the lower my fps goes across all of the clients.
You will get lower performance in ISBoxer than outside because, in order for you to be able to instantly swap windows and broadcast to slave windows, ISBoxer has to run all clients at their maximum resolution and have them locked to the foreground. There is a performance hit associated with this. It may also be helpful to list your hardware.

And one more thing... http://isboxer.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=625, Lax's advice at the end.

Re: terrible performance when played thru ISboxer

Also if you're using software that has in-game overlay features, such as X-Fire or Mumble, you will want to disable the in-game features while multiboxing with ISBoxer.
