EQ Client instantly closes

Having an odd, and really frustrating, issue with trying to run Inner Space and Everquest.

Recently it's started having the issue where I start a client, either directly under the game in IS or by selecting a specific slot in a character set, the client window pops up for a second then closes.

The only way I have found to get the client to not close is to select the character, then very quickly select the same character a 2nd time.
It appears that one of the clients will close but one stays active.

This happens under 7248 and 7254.

I've tried everything, even a complete uninstall and reinstall but issue persists.

This sounds like what we would call a crash.

Check for a dump file.

Check in your Inner Space folder for a .dmp file named like name_of_client.exe.dmp, otherwise check %LocalAppData%\CrashDumps (you can press Windows+R and paste that into the Run box) for name_of_client.exe.####.dmp (where #### is the process ID that crashed/disappeared/didn't launch)

Nothing in either of those locations.

Just started happening in last couple of weeks.
Can't get any client to load.

Only 'fix' is if I start loading a Character Set Slot and then immediately start the same slot, one of them will survive.

After much uninstalling and reinstalling and pulling out hair I 'appear' to have fond something that works.

If I run the innerspace.exe from the x64 folder directly I have, so far, been able to get all clients running with no issues.
I still have not been able to find any dump or log file giving any help on why the clients were closeing.

That is odd as it shoudln't make any difference.

Can you provide a diagnostic. It may show up some other process or flag we need to look at for compatibility purposes.

I'll see about getting that diagnostic.

I was wrong about the x64 being a fix, it's now having the same behaviour
I have noticed something, when I tell Innerspace to load a character set, if I click on the windows taskbar, it 'appears' that the clients will load.
This may simply be random or unrelated, I'm clutching at any straw trying to figure this out.
