Everquest support

Hi,

Just checking on status of fixing ISB to work with EQ. The released version (7260) has a\the ResetDevice error when exiting. The development builds 7263 and now 7264 fixed the ResetDevice error but consistently crash on all three of my pcs. Just leave the computer idle with innerspace running for a few mins and it will crash. I attached a screenshot from the crash this evening when I tried out 7264.

Regards,
Brian

Re: Everquest support

Unfortunately your screenshot is only the top part of the message so I can't really provide much input on it.
But the error is coming from the input system, so perhaps you have an input device (USB/Bluetooth etc) which is associated.
If you have something that disconnecting and reconnecting that might cause it to crash like that.

Re: Everquest support

I submit the crash via the button on the window. Does that go anywhere useful?

The crash is not specific to something on the pc. The same crash occurs on three different PCs.

Re: Everquest support

It does. I just don't get to see it, so I can't help further. There is also no reaching out from submissions of those reports.
You reached out to the community and the community will need to see the whole message to get anything useful. We don't speak registers.

Anyway.
We don't have floods of similar reports at this time, here or on discord, even though it is on all 3 of your PC's, you are not the only EQ player, so we will require more info.

  1. check in your Inner Space folder for a .dmp file named like name_of_client.exe.dmp, otherwise check %LocalAppData%\CrashDumps (you can press Windows+R and paste that into the Run box) for name_of_client.exe.####.dmp (where #### is the process ID that crashed/disappeared/didn't launch)
  2. Get a Compatibility Diagnostic https://isboxer.com/wiki/Diagnostics#Ho ... Diagnostic

Re: Everquest support

I appreciate the help. Here is a dump file from one of the computers using the current dev build. Also, here is a paste of the ISB compatibility report. I should note that EQ is not running when ISB crashes.

https://paste.isboxer.com/paste/415

Note, website would not let me upload .dmp so I appended .txt to the file.

Ill use some of my other computers later this evening and upload their .dmps as well.

Regards,
Brian

Re: Everquest support

Here is another .dmp file from same computer. I exited my 6 instances of EQ and computer was idle 9 mins before Innerspace crashed. Maybe this is not EQ related and this thread belongs somewhere else?

Re: Everquest support

Here is a .dmp from a second computer. I just load innerspace and it crashes in 9-10 mins. (once again, I appended .txt in order to upload)

Last one, a .dmp from a 3rd computer. Same thing as others.

Re: Everquest support

You can try disabling the New Virtual Input setting in the Inner Space configuration.

Apply this, exit and restart Inner Space and load your team.

It is possible that some devices may not play nice if you do so.
I also notice you are using some other EQ helper software. Does the crash also occur when not using this ?

Re: Everquest support

yeah, I have been using ISB for the better part of ten years and never really had stability problems until this build. I figured it was just because I was using a development build (to fix the ResetDevice issue.)

Nothing has changed with the configuration/software installed/used on any of these PCs. Been working fine, especially well last couple years at least. Is this new Virtual Input setting something added between 7260 and 7263/7264?

I will do some more testing but at least the laptop is a brand new Windows install. The other EQ s/w does not conflict. Crash happens without that s/w loaded.
