Help! problem playing EQ (all windows goes black)

hello everyone

just joined the community and started Isboxer last night, but after the server selection screen, the eq windows just went black, and I have not yet found solution to it.

I am running EQ in windows XP using parallel on a Mac (OS X)

I have tried installing DirectX9, updated the Net framework 3.5 thing, I have tried to load the game in both windowed mode and full screen, also tried using gamma adjusting software to see if it's the lighting issue, and I have tried loading one, three, five windows at the same time under isboxer…

One thing I am certain is that the game is definitely running. If I point and click at where "Quit" button is, I will be taken back to server selection, which displays correctly on my monitor.

If anyone has experienced the same issue please let me know how to fix this, any suggestion is much appreciated, thank you!

The first picture: once past server selection, I am still seeing the loading graphic for around 2-3 seconds (see the "account 2" window), soon everything goes black ("account 1" window)

The second picture: all three windows stay black, until I succefully clicked "Quit" button, which would took me back to server selection.

I don't have a solid answer, but I'll throw this out there...

I've never heard of anyone using Parallels with Inner Space -- That doesn't mean there isn't, but I haven't heard of any such person doing so in the years I've been around. Most Mac users tend to dual boot into Windows to run Inner Space. If that's an option, then it'd be the best option.

I will have to get a friend to help if installing a boot version of windows, but personally I would prefer to be able to access other functions in Mac while I am in the game…

There are posts of others encountering similar problem on PCs, what else have I not tried? I read from a post that you can switch between DirectX9 or DirectX11 in isboxer, but I cannot find the option, could you direct me to this?

I don't know, but I would recommend not using Windows XP as Microsoft is going to end their support for the OS on April 8th of this year. Lax has already recommended to others in the past that they should probably upgrade from Windows XP because its lifetime is over and (in so many words) he's tired of supporting such an old OS.

This is only available if your game uses both APIs, but generally it's done through the game's settings. Everquest does not support anything besides DX9 (and neither does Windows XP).

Re: Help! problem playing EQ (all windows goes black)

Problem solved!

Changed window appearance to resizable and worked! When the game finished loading and into the character selection, game screen will appear as long as I resize each window slightly. Have to do it every time I log in but I am fine with it. My guess is that my current resolution setting somehow conflict with Isboxer's display function? I am lucky to have this figured out quickly.

Another question: Is there a way to keep different UI settings for each character? For example most of the time I like to 3 Box, but occasionally I would prefer to 2 Box or even 5 Box. It'd be annoying if I have to change UI setting manually each time I am using a different Boxing set. I read about Virtual Files but my understanding is that they're more to do with character's account information?
