Further musings on Target in EQ
No real problem, just a few thoughts. I'm debating on how best to handle targetting.
One problem with the variable keystroke technique is that we are (to the best of my knowledge) limited to one keystroke.
Assume the following chars:
slot 1: Larry
slot 2: Moe w/pet Shemp
slot 3: Curly
Larry has no current target.
Curly has Moe targetted at the moment. Maybe he was buffing...
Moe says "Target Me", and everyone issues the appropriate F-key
Larry now has Moe targetted as he should
Moe has whatever target he had before.
Curly has Shemp targetted
If Moe says "ESC" to everyone, and then "Target Me", we are good. If the "Target Slot N" variable keys allowed an ESC to be added, then we can put the fix in one spot. I could add an ESC to each use of <Target Slot {SLOT}">. This seems the best solution at the moment.
One thing we can do with this, that we cannot do with socials, is to ask a character to target a pet.
ESC, <Target SLot 2>, <Target SLot > == Shemp. So something like "DS my pet" could be done.
I'm still learning this, so if I've got this wrong please correct me. Just some random thinking as I work on targetting and how to use it.
