ISboxer for generating character specific /outputfile info?

IN EQ you can use the /outputfile command to gather information such as the contents of your inventory. By default, all instances of EQ use the same name, so they overwrite each other. For each character I have, I make a social button with the following lines in it:

Code:
/pause 5,/outputfile inventory vulak-Pizani-inventory.txt
/pause 5,/outputfile spellbook vulak-Pizani-spellbook.txt
/pause 5,/outputfile guild vulak-Pizani-guild.txt

Obviously the character name changes for each character I have. Its a pain to set up especially with all of my mules and switching the computer a character runs on.

Is there a way to have ISboxer generate these commands and execute them for all characters, each modified with the characters unique name? So if I have 4 accounts running with ISboxer each one would generate a unique command string?

Edit: I see there are variables for {CHARACTER}, {CHARACTERSET}, and {SLOT}. I need the server and character name, so I assume I would just name the character set after the server (Vulak in this case). I don't need the pauses since it's fine to have one command to do all "inventory" command to all characters and another to do "spellbook" to all others and so on. But would I run into a character string length limit? The shortest I seem to be able to reduce a line to would be

Code:
/ou inventory vulak-Pizani-inventory

and I might have longer character names.

Thanks!

You could paste the slash command into the chat window using {CHARACTER} using either of these methods.

There's no Pause in ISBoxer. Yould need to make a 3 step mapped key and push the hotkey three times to get all the outputs listed in your social.

It's actually much simpler than you're going about doing. ISBoxer can almost do it all for you.

First, in your EQ1 commands use the same filenames for all characters. You can use the same macro, you don't need to change it at all for different characters.

So for example:
Code:
/pause 5,/outputfile inventory inventory.txt
/pause 5,/outputfile spellbook spellbook.txt
/pause 5,/outputfile guild guild.txt

Look easy enough so far?

Okay, now in ISBoxer, in the Wizards menu select Virtual File Wizard. When it comes up it has a drop-down that defaults to "Other (Please specify file)" -- leave that drop-down set as Other, do not pick EQ1; you most likely already have the default EQ1 virtual files. In the "Filename to virtualize" box, put in: inventory.txt, and click Next. Then pick the Characters to add the Virtual File to, and click Finish. Do that for each of the 3 or however many files.

They will automatically output as...
inventory-ISBOXERCHARACTERNAME.txt
spellbook-ISBOXERCHARACTERNAME.txt
guild-ISBOXERCHARACTERNAME.txt

Where ISBOXERCHARACTERNAME will be whatever it says under Characters in the top left pane. So if your guy is listed in ISBoxer as "vulak-Pizani", the file you get is inventory-vulak-Pizani.txt. You can change it per Character if you like

That should do it :)

Thanks to both of you. That is great, it does sound much easier. Is there a problem if I log out of Pizani and then log in on another character (ie a mule) to do the same thing. I want inventory files for all of my characters so I can search where and how many of an item I have.

If you use the same slot without relaunching a character, yes, there will be a conflict. If Character A is loaded, you /output inventory_CharacterA. All is well.

Then you camp to character select, log in Mule A *without relaunching* and /output inventory, it's going to overwrite Character A's with Mule A's information. ISBoxer doesn't know you've switched characters unless you tell it so, by relaunching the slot or character set.

Ok, thanks. That is what I was concerned about. Will try it with renaming the character in ISboxer and exporting to Innerspace.

Re: ISboxer for generating character specific /outputfile info?

That wont necessarily help either. Renaming the character and exporting after the fact wont change the name that the "Virtual File" is pointing to as this is set when you run the virtual file wizard or the quick start wizard.

If you camp to Character Select, to log in a new character then you need to launch the appropriate character set from Innerspace with all the correct characters in the matching slots (so you mule will need to be setup in ISBoxer and in the character slot as appropriate), so that the characters logged in match the character set that Innerspace thinks is running. You don't need to exit the game to relaunch the character set.

Of course you could just setup the mule in ISboxer and swap it into the slot of the character set you are running and Export, and this will effectively do the same thing, but the mule will need it's own character and virtual file configuration.
