EQ2X 6box hardware questions

My system:
Cpu: Intel i7 950
mobo: ASrock x58 extreme
memory: Crucial DDR3-1600 6gb
psu: Gigabyte GE-s800a
sound: Creative Audigy
Hdd: Hitachi deskstar 160gb x 2
Video: XFX Radeon HD6870 1g x 2 not in crossfire mode
OS: Win 7 64bt

I am trying to 6box eq2x with this setup. I am having problems on startup/shutdown of the game as well as zone load times. I have all but the main window at the lowest graphics settings. Main is at a modified balance setting. Whenever another player gets near me my system lags. I ran one instance out of innerspace to see how much ram was being used and it turned out to be around 1.5 g with windows already using 1.7g. Load times seem really bad and my cpu usage drops to almost nothing. When Isboxer shuts down all 6 windows it can take a little over 5 minutes for all of them to close. Does anyone have any suggestions?

you need more memory on that system... to run multiple eq2 clients effectively you will need about 2 gig of memory per client you are trying to run...

just my experience... when i box 3 or 4 toons on a 8 gig system it runs very well.. quick zone times.. no lag.. when i run 5 on an 8 gig system i run into what you are experiencing... long load times.. lag with large groups of other toons in zone..

I would seriously recommend trying to increase the memory you have on that system....

fellow eq2 multiboxer.....

I wouldn't SLI/Crossfire when boxing.

If you can enable/disable it easily, then enable it for one-box/solo games.
That will likely be a performance boost, for many of those games.
