NeverBoxer - Need help from the experts.

Hello everyone,

First, thank you for creating the NeverBoxer setup. I appreciate the hard work and effort that went into this.

I have it all setup. I checked it several times and everything has been done according to the step by step posts. All 5 accounts logon, I see the 4 mini windows, the main window and everything else looks right. My situation is some keybinds are not working. For example, "[" and "]" work and cycle through the characters, shift + space jumps all the characters but most keybinds are not working.

1. Invite is not working.
2. Follow (the "V" key) is not working (it is actually pressing 6 which makes one of my characters mount up and off each time it is pressed)
3. "Q", "E", "R" do not work at all. They work on the active window but none of the slaves do anything.
4. There are also two sets of key binds to choose from. The normal Combat, Non-Combat, etc. Then the NW Combat, NW Non-Combat. In the guide it only shows the normal ones that usually are there. Which set do you choose for each character?

One example is if I hit "v" for follow they all say "All Follow Me". No one follows anyone, but they do all react and say "All Follow Me".

You don't need to mess with the in-game key binds correct?

I stopped trying other key binds at that point. I'm hoping it is something simple I forgot to activate or press. If anyone has any suggestions it would be greatly appreciated.

I suspect it is because your in game binds aren't loading auto-matically...

I don't know if that is a Cryptic bug or ISBoxer bug or what and I don't know if we have found the full fix for that or not.

Thankfully as long as you don't change your keybinds the bindings are persistent and don't have to be reloaded each time you start up.

First verify your bind files are being created with data. If you did a default Neverwinter install they should be located in the "C:\Program Files (x86)\Cryptic Studios\Neverwinter\Live" folder and should have a format like:

isboxer-TEAM_NAME-CharacterName@account-binds.txt

The date/time stamp should be the date/time you launched the characters and they should not be blank.

If they are not blank then I would load them up using the console in each game client window (you can get the console to open by presssing /).

The commands I would try are:

/clear
/Unbind_all
/bind_load_file isboxer-TEAM_NAME-CharacterName@account-binds.txt

Please let us know if that fixes it.

That seems to have worked!

Couple of things.

1. One thing I noticed is my game is installed under users\public\games\cryptic studios. Not sure why that is different. I just downloaded it and installed it like normal. Can I fix this somehow so the binds automatically load?
2. I'm not sure the targeting and attacking is working just yet. Checking now. Follow works. That was the big one.

I'll keep you posted here on my progress. Will I need to do that load binds thing each time for each character? Is there a way to fix this?

Also, how do you assist? I can't seem to get the followers to assist the main character. They do not fire off any shots when I hit Q, E, R, etc. They get ready to fire so I know they are getting the key clicks. They're just not locked onto anything.

I recommend a read through the game play guide for NeverBoxer.

viewtopic.php?f=45&t=4485

You mark targets for your Fire-teams (you did assign Fire Team action groups to your characters, right?) and then they will auto-assist on mouse1/2 attacks.

Recomend you look at the Combat keymap in ISBoxer to see and modify the attack combnations to your own taste. The ones already there are tried and true combos that other NeverBoxer users have contributed.

Try that out and see if that helps you move forward with your NeverBoxing. :)

Mouse 3 was it. I read the map and saw F8 was an assist. I kept hitting that and trying to attack. Mouse 3, 4 and 5 fixed it all. Much more fun now. I'll keep you posted on progress.

Thanks for the help.

Other issue I am having is follow. It works great most of the time. There are times when I finish a fight and hit "v" and the characters follow their pets or other players, or NPCs or mobs. Any suggestions on how to make follow more consistent?

Is there a way to make the slaves select the slot 1 character? Only way I have been able to do this is to walk the slot 1 character in front of the salves, then hit "v" and it follows fine.

If the characters are not following correctly, then normally that is an indication that you have a binds issue. Why Neverwinter's binds sometimes mess up is an unanswered question...

So when this happens, do as Nodoze recommended above - clear the binds and reload them. Then you will find that everything works again - this is one of those "issues" we have to put up with from Neverwinter.

A list of reasons follow breaks:

1) Neverwinter has messed up the binds for unknown reasons. Clear and reload your binds (you may only need to do it on the affected character)
2) if one of your characters drops from party (leaving a "hole" in the SLOTs) it may break follow
3) Your character name has two parts; ie a space in the middle. Some have stated that putting the name in quotes during setup alleviates the problem
4) You have two binds conflicting; check your keymaps and make sure that's not the case
5) One of your character's in-game keymaps is messed up and is using one of the keys used in follow

Hope that helps.

Thanks for the reply. It seems random and pretty much just happens in town. Dungeons seem to be working well.

One thing I am having trouble with is getting Q, R, E, 1 and so on to fire off. The mouse buttons work perfectly. Put the cursor over a mob, hit the team 3 button (middle mouse button) and they all start attacking.

1. If I hit Q on the keyboard do they all fire? Or just me.

2. If I hit F1 everyone should fire correct?

3. If I hit Shift + F1 and keep pressing that combo I should get them all to fire one after the other correct?

I have tried all of the above and don't seem to be able to get Q, R, E, 1 and so on to fire.

Any suggestions?

1. If I hit Q on the keyboard do they all fire? Or just me.

No, the only keys in the NeverBoxer config that causes more than one character to fire in unison are the at-wills, the Shift+numbers and the Function/Shift+Function keys as per their respective keymaps found in the Combat keymap. Everything else is mapped to the default game keys. What this allows you to do is pretty much play each character individually as if you were playing the game normally.

2. If I hit F1 everyone should fire correct?

Yes and no. F1 is configured for Guardian, Trickster Rogue, Devoted Cleric an Control Wizard characters to fire off Q & R attacks (you will need to load ISBoxer, and look at the Combat keymaps assigned there).

So if you have a full party of Great Weapon Fighters they won't do anything becuase they aren't assigned a keymap there and you would have to add one.

If you don't add your characters to the respective action groups (by class) they won't do anything either. You must assign your characters by class to the action groups.

Also, if you don't have keymaps turned on (Ctrl + Alt + M toggles them), they won't work either.

3. If I hit Shift + F1 and keep pressing that combo I should get them all to fire one after the other correct?

Again, in the Combat keymap, Shift + F1 is assigned to "Charge for GF and TR". This means that the Guardian and Trickster characters will charge into battle. Once a skill is used, it goes into cooldown and will not do anything again until the timer has reset.

I hope this answers your questions a bit? :?: :) :?:
