I want to thank you Lax, Sylver, and nodoze for your great work on Neverwinter configs and scripts. I have a customized two-monitor, 4-man team working after using the Neverboxer Guide.
I tried to create multiple accounts for Neverwinter, but I got got an error on 3-5. "bad password" from PW. So I opened three tickets with Perfect World. Two others were activated, but after my fifth account hadn't activated in three days, the reply from tech support was: "As for Neverwinter multiboxing is not allowed, but still only a couple of accounts per device are allowed. Thank you for understanding and I apologize once again for the mix up."
So I dropped the issue for now (I was miffed) and read the EULA to be sure. There is NO mention of multiboxing or "only a couple of accounts are allowed." I'm confused as to why Customer Support would activate four but not my fifth. I'm not sure what to do next on that issue. Perhaps I need advice. Nonetheless I wanted to post my team and alert other boxers here that Perfect World may not be warming up to boxers. I hope this is a unique person in their tech support who is grieving boxers.

4man:GF,DCx2,CW:...............TonyO:.......7 ........................................Dragon Server;
When I eventually get my fifth account I will add a CW

Editted spelling, gramar.

Prolly just a tech who doesn't like boxers. I don't think theres anything official, and even if there is good luck proving it's one person playing versus me and my 4 kids playing.

Not sure why we get so much hate, considering most of us keep to ourselves in game. I don't think i've ever talked to anyone other than to buy stuff.

I didn't have any trouble setting up my accounts. Mabye set it up on another machine, then just log in on your main computer.

Thanks, that's promising. I was hoping my experience isn't standard procedure with Perfect World. Suppose I just got a troll in tech support on one of my tickets. I have tried activating the remaining accounts from a virtual machine, but that didn't work. I may try creating a new e-mail account for my fifth.
To be fair, I should mention I initially tried to create 6 accounts for Neverwinter (not knowing yet that the max NW party is 5). I suppose this particular PW tech was handling my tickets for 4 and 5, and sent a message that I was creating excessive accounts (which yes I understand now). I have replied politely and sincerely, "I intend to multibox Neverwinter so I only need 5 accounts. I read the rules and EULA and cannot find where multiboxing is not allowed. Kindly would you activate the account please? I will delete the sixth after this has been resolved." I figure if taking the high ground doesn't work, at least I can still play a 4 man :).

Same here, but I can empathize a bit. When someone starts trolling me in game about boxing, I think he's probably misinformed, or maybe doesn't know how to start, or maybe he's scared, or maybe his parents didn't give him a bicycle on his 7th birthday. Then empathy stops there and I ask, "Why are you NOT boxing?"
P.S. My 4man is level 9

I made a change to my team, ditched the guardian and rolled a Hunter Ranger after watching other players do massive aoe damage, with slow and evade. I know this class is overpowered-nerf bait, but it'll be fun while it lasts.

R(6), DCx2(10), CW (10)

I plan to use tank pets, 2 bears and 2 wolves, when I get to tougher quests. How well do tank pets hold threat?

Did you use the same email for all accounts ??? I just assumed you used different ones, that would prolly be the problem.

I have 5 emails I use for boxing games and have never had a problem.

And ya, I always wonder the same thing when people complain. If you are so damn jealous, then WHY ARN'T YOU BOXING ????

And good call of ditching the GF. I just leveled/geared one up and it made 0 difference. In fact my pet tanks are better. Useless for my team, the 5xDC did way better. Going to try either 3xDC/2xCW or 2xDC/3xCW.

I did a Pirate King run with just my best geared DC, there was this CW in the group that kicked major ass. I couldn't believe it, how she could control huge groups of mobs. I think i need to start solo playing one of my CW and learn to play the class.

As for the PET tanks, I have had good luck with them, only prob is AOE agro, but they hold the boss no prob. With multiple healers they are easy to keep alive as well. I would recommend the neverember guard, awesome tank and locks down the agro. I was using 2x Calebs, 1x guard with my cleric team and never pulled agro. you will have no prob with the pets until you try T2 dungeons, and even then they would outlive my clerics. Let me know how the bears work out as I considered trying one of them. If only there was a pet tank that hit multiple targets.

No, I created a separate e-mail account for each character. Apparently if you want, you can change your "contact" e-mail address ( https://support.perfectworld.com/app/an ... /a_id/1497 ), so I presume you could have game e-mail go to one account for all characters.

My fifth account was finally activated, so I created another Hunter Ranger. I will 'drive' the Control Wizard when I play all five, to learn the class and manage cc.

5MAN CW, DCx2, HRx2

I got a Wolf and a Caleb so far. Now that I read your recommendation and see companions are on sale today, I'm thinking of adding 2 x Sellsword (or some aoe striker) and a Neverember Guard. I figured the aoe striker can aggro adds. I suppose the Calab is now my secondary tank.

I tried a pair of Phoera's for AOE threat and it didn't do anything. Without a taunt pets do so little damage I doubt they will hold any agro. I think pets fall into 2 categories, Tanks & Healers, the DPS ones are useless.

I thought about trying the sellsword myself for the repel he gets, as with multiple healers you can keep the group up, but when multiple adds can chain together interrupts and stuns you still go down.

Thanks though my thanks goes to those early programmers (especially to Norrin & gnetchem) who figured out all the behind the scenes stuff that allowed us to do the boxing in the first place and Sylver was especially committed to getting Neverboxer 1.0+ setup off the ground using Lax's great software... I try to be a good guinea-pig/beta-tester and overall researcher & historian...

Your two monitor 5 man setup sounds really cool. I also have a 2 monitor setup but typically run the game clients on the 32" and use the 17" laptop screen for wiki research/updates, isboxer-tweaks, vent, taskmgr/open-hardware-monitor and to see emails and alerts from work without switching back and forth.

Regarding multi-boxing in Neverwinter I think the general adage of "no harm"->"no-foul" parleys to "no complaints" -> "no-ban" in Neverwinter... I have never seen anything official posted against multi-boxing in Neverwinter but I do know of one multi-boxer who reported getting banned in Neverwinter for using it in PVP. Many of us have been Multi-boxing since Beta (12 months plus) with no issues and the general recommendations we came up with are:

  • - Don't Multi-Box (MB) Neverwinter in PVP;
  • - Minimize MBing in Neverwinter Public Zones. If you don't need to run as a group then don't;
  • - Don't join random Pick-up Groups (PuGs) and only group with Guild-mates who know what is going and are supportive/fine with MBing; I duo-box when we are short a man on guild runs all the time (as long as everyone in the party agrees) and the guild appreciates it because otherwise we wouldn't have a full 5-man on those runs. I also used to duo in PuG skirmishes but stopped doing that after hearing of the first ban.
  • - If possible stick to Foundry Quests (personally my 5man team sits at the entrance/exit and I re-Q from there without running around as a group) while leveling except where important to do quest line stuff in public zones; The only quest line stuff that I do with 5man teams has been for the free Bags so far and I plan to keep it to that...
  • - Always be respectful around others and don't use MB in away that makes them jealous or gives them reason to construe you have unfair advantage (hopefully "no harm"->"no-foul" parleys to "no complaints" -> "no-ban".
Personally I ran & still run my duo GF+DC though out the entire game and never have had a single comment or concern voiced. I guess people regularly see Clerics following others and healing them so no 'wow factor' there. While 2 people following/running/riding (duo-boxing) doesn't seem that abnormal, 5 people (1 lead with 4 mirrors) does really stand out... It may also help that my characters are different classes and do different actions with different positioning so no mirror/slaves to worry about... I have run my full 5 man team periodically across Protector's Enclave to do maintenance together and did receive a few curious tells (which I am used to after MBing in many games) which never seemed to matter until I heard about the first confirmed ban. After seeing that post I have totally stopped doing things like that with my 5man team and now only run 2 at a time across the public zones to be extra safe.

Like lemartes99, I have 4 kids (actually I have 5) so I go back and forth between boxing and various kids playing the other toons and never had a problem.

Regarding teams, I think the most successful team to date had the Control Wizard in the foreground for overall CC of the game and had two Clerics which make total sense to me but surprisingly he also had 2 melee (a GF + TR). I think the key to his success was that he first played the CW by itself through all the dungeons with real 5 man teams and knew the strategies for the fights and learned the class and especially got the CC role down to a science... With his high gear score and tuned build his single CW could essentially chain-cast Arcane Singularity and lock down all adds except the boss. From what I have seen & heard I think that any successful 5man MB team needs at least 2 DCs and one CW though 2 CWs may be needed for most teams to be able to chain-cast (we use 2 CWs in guild runs to chain-cast AS in guild runs as neither CW by himself seems to be able to keep AS up close to 100% of the time). My GF is actually a DPS-team-buff Hybrid build (gives the party +60% Power) and even with them getting the buff he is usually 2-3 in DPS in the guild runs plus he can AOE taunt strays into the AS and Boss Taunt the boss away from the party while pets can't (they can taunt but not position so the party has to move back) so I personally think a GF can bring something to a party.

Regarding pets, I believe Striker (DPS) companions are still pointless (even after the buffs to their damage) and agree that Defender (Tank) companions are the way to go... I don't remember seeing if Lemartes ever confirmed whether the Helmite Ghost Paladin's buffs stacked or not but mixing in at least one Leader (Healer) Paladin companion may have merits also. Personally I actually have a "buffer" pet IOUN Stone on both my GF & DC as they can't die and push my GF's gear score over 15000.

Lastly, I will add your team to the OP summary for this thread and try to keep it updated if you or others post your teams progress/accomplishments in the thread...

Great advice. I will adhere to these guidelines, too, out of respect for Neverwinter players and fellow boxers. It's just goofy overkill to run a 5man/5pet herd through black lake and tower district at level 10-12 (think I healed maybe twice) and sticks out too much. I will solo or duo in public areas as much as possible.

At the moment my pets are Caleb, Neverember Guardx2, Wolf, Honey Badger. So with your advice I plan to change out the wolf and badger, thinking at level 16. I have tank pets on DC and CW. I'll put healer pets on Hunter Rangers.

CW, DCx2, HRx2 (Level 12)

To be clear context-wise my comments regarding Companions (pets) above are relevant for epic 5mans at cap (currently level 60). The striker pets are OK at the low/mid level but their DPS doesn't keep up and they die a lot in in boss fights. I already have a mix of many pets (companions) & in addition to the common ones I have at least the epic Badger (for one kid), the epic Panther, epic wolf, Caleb, & the Paladins. From an animation and starting trouble standpoint the Badger is my favorite ;-).

Unless Lamartes weighs in to recommend 2 healers I would only do one Leader (Healer) Paladin as I never remember seeing whether or not the buffs from 2 Paladin companions in the same party stack or not. If he doesn't recommend 2 Leader/Healer Paladins (or has backed off liking them and now doesn't recommend any Paladins at all anymore) it sounds like the Neverember Guards are the best bet. If starting from scratch with no prior investments/buys of pets I would take advantage of the sale and go:

-1 Paladin (from AH) and 4 Neverember Guards (on sale);
-2 Paladins (if someone confirms they stack) & 3 Neverember Guards;

Currently I have 1 Caleb & the Paladins so I am thinking of getting 2-3 Neverember Guards on sale.

EDIT: I also updated the Original Post (OP) with your progress to date...
