Loosing sound (from Win7-64) while multi-boxing...

Hello here,

First of all, congratulations for your amazing work. Multi-boxing is fun ! I just purchased 1 year of IsBoxer, and mentionned in the process 8kilo, in order to add another month to his account, so that he'll be able to play till the end of the world... Ah wait, isn't that in 9 days already ? Damn.

Now to the technical issue. I'm multiboxing Diablo III (4 accounts), and I noticed that I'm loosing sound (from win7) after a while. I admit that quiet is nice, but I could also listen to some music while playing... Not sure how it happens however. It doesn't depend on the player (VLC or media player, neither works), there is just no sound anymore. I mean, everything works fine when I start playing, and then after like 15-30 mins *poof* silence.

I'm running the game on win7-64 French. My computer is a i7-920, 6GB RAM (maybe a little low here), ATI radeon HD 5800 (1GB RAM) video card, and 2x80GB SSDs instead of hard drives. My Internet connexion is a 100MB fiber/cable.

Diablo boxes are set up with 1920x864 resolution (I have a 26' flat screen with 1920x1080), minimal graphics, and sound off. IsBoxer/InnerSpace configuration is mostly default, I just had to map the 3 key, which relates to " on a french keybord, and I had some weird bugs because of that (just FYI about french keyboards).

Thanks in advance for your answer :)

The sound from everything in Windows is cutting out? Or just from the game instances, while everything else on your PC continues making sounds just fine?

ISBoxer doesn't really have anything that should be having this effect on your sound.

All of the game instances should be locked to believe they are "foreground" so the sound shouldn't be cutting off from detecting it's inactive... though if you don't have that option configured in your Character Set, that could definitely be related ;) (And usually causes more important problems with gameplay)

Every sound in Windows is cutting out. VLC runs but with no sound, Media player doesn't even start. And when I quit Diablo III (4 windows) and shuts down InnerSpace, sound is working again... I believe that I'm running out of memory (unless you tell me I'm not). I have been monitoring CPU's and memory while playing : CPU is used like 45%, but memory is fully used (like 5.9GB out of 6)...

Game instances are locked to "foreground".

Maybe I'll try to lower game resolution.

Anyway I still don't fully master everything, all the more than I decided not to use the usual 4xBarb combo. FYI I'm playing Barb-Sorc-WD-Monk, which is powerful but can be tricky sometimes ;)

There are two different scenarios where I've ever had a computer completely lose sound.

A) Windows installed a generic sound driver for me and I needed to install the actual driver from the manufacturer's website.

B) Swapping around default playback devices sometimes breaks my sound on my computer (specifically when I'm doing so through the game's settings)

Well that did it LOL. Thanks for the advice. That was after I re-installed the game in english, extended RAM (I needed to, anyways), removed razer devices, etc. I use an Asus P6T Motherboard, and for some reason the defaut Win7-64 driver seems to be puzzled with too many sound sources running at the same time ? Genuine Asus driver fixed it.

For now, everything is running as it should. I installed back the game in french, as I was lazy re-memorizing the names of the good "yellows" in another language. No problem with my Razer Imperator mouse and software, and I can listen to whatever sound player in the background. However, I still have the action buttons set to W, X, C, V (in-game setup) instead of 1 2 3 4, since with french keyboard, as I mentionned before, key 2 is associated with " symbol, which seems to be a problem with InnerSpace.

Then, in game, I had to get rid of that stupid Witch Doctor who couldn't stop dying, and now my team is Sorcerer-Sorcerer-Monk-Barbarian. I picked skills so that the Barbarian and the Monk just grab what they can from the distance, then the 2 sorcerers just freeze and aoe dps everything. And I'm not even well geared ;)
