However, for the dxnothing char black box that is supposed to house the minimaps(which sits on top right of main screen), how do I put in the green viewer boxes when the whole thing is so tiny? I open up the GUI in the dxnothing character and its too small to use. So how am I supposed to get those viewer feeds aligned/sized correctly?

You use Video FX Actions.

If the GUI is being scaled down, then chances are your window region that the dxNothing character is home in is in the same swap group as the others.
This region should be in it's own swap group, with itself set as the reset region (or no reset region for this swap group). That way the window layout wont try and have the internal render size the same as your D3 windows, and scaled down for you to view in the little window.

You can set the Swap Group for regions on the Regions tab of the Window Layout, and you can then change the swap group properties on the Swap Group tab.

Re: 4x minimap on 1 window tutorial request

Thanks for the replies guys... Video FX actions I looked into per your YouTube video lessons on videofx and I couldn't find the videofx actions section under Key Maps non combat. It's just not there. Any idea why?

As for the fixing of the scaling, I think I've done that and I get a full sized control panel, but it is kind of annoying to wiggle things around still in that small box on top right. Is that how it has to be done though? Or should I blow up the window region, fix the map stuff then resize the window region again and place it in the correct spot? I'll try working in the small window for now, see if I can get it done.

I am going to refer you back to this post viewtopic.php?f=35&t=3695 which takes you through configuring VideoFX Actions.

I'm not sure there is a specific video which covers configuring VideoFX actions in detail, but the options in the actions themselves are rather limited; in fact they are exactly the same as you trying to configure via the GUI, but you don't get drag and drop for location, you have to specify it manually; pick a location (I just use the GUI to create a source/viewer get close to the location and size, remove it and then transfer the details to the mapped key action), export, see if it is correct, adjust, export, rinse/repeat. You don't need to restart your game instances between exports either.

Re: 4x minimap on 1 window tutorial request

Thanks for the quick reply. In that case I'll skip the VideoFX actions for this assignment. I'm having trouble with the last step now.

"5. Create a Mapped Key to toggle the Foreground/Background state of the Slot that is the dxNothing character, with a Window State Action. If you make this a 2 stepper with a "press OR release" execution, then it should be that the dxNothing will appear when you press and hold the hotkey and drop off when you let it go again."

I can't find a foreground/background mapped key or a window state action. Can you direct me to where it would be?

Meazure is an awesome tool for measuring regions and grabbing coordinates. I've been using it Forever. It's freeware with a perfectly clean installation.

Ok so I found how to add the foreground/background states but for some reason I can't get it to work quite right. Do I disable the first step in the key?(the one that says go next window). Do I need a #2 step and a #3 step? One for foreground and one for background? Either way it didn't work.

Re: 4x minimap on 1 window tutorial request

You need to create a NEW mapped key , not edit the existing Next Window/Previous Window mapped keys (which do something completely different).

e.g.

Select Always On key map.
Lower left pane, right click the Mapped Keys node, select New Mapped Key from the context menu. Give it a relevant name.
Then select step 1 of the new mapped key, on the right lower pane, right click the Actions node. Select Window Actions, Window State Action. Set the target to Character Slot that has the dxnothing, set the appropriate foreground/background state.
You may need to set a Window Style action too, in order to force Always On Top.

Back on the lower left pane, right click Steps, add a new Step. Select it. On the lower right pane, add in the appropriate actions to turn off the changes you made in step 1. I.e. set back to background, remove the Always On Top setting.

Ok...I think I got it. Only thing is that I have to actually click on the dxnothing window then press the hotkey for the foreground/background switch. Is that what is supposed to be happening? If not, how do I get it to toggle when I'm clicked on my main screen?

Re: 4x minimap on 1 window tutorial request

Not sure. It should work regardless of which window you are on, unless you have created it in a new key map and only assigned that key map to a specific character (this is one of the reasons why I said to put it in Always On, although perhaps non-combat may have been a better option depending on the hot key you are using).

If you want someone to look over it, then I suggest posting your profile. viewtopic.php?f=8&t=13
