Re: New to multiboxing...

Sorry I didn't get to it Saturday, but I did manage to do some testing for you today.

Running all 4 D3 clients on a single monitor stacked, at 1920x1080, with all settings set to low seems to work fine on a single card. During large fights I did get a little lag, but it was still playable.

Idle aka, sitting in town the single card runs at about 75%, when fighting it pretty much stays pegged at 100%.

Hope this helps.

Thanks, that does indeed help. Hopefully it mustered more than 25 fps. lol

Re: New to multiboxing...

I believe I had the master set for 45FPS, and the slaves at 30FPS. Sorry I didn't think to take note of the actual frame rate. I just ran into a bounty and started killing stuff. Did a quick sweep, running through multiple fights, then hopped back out, and switched back to my normal window layout. I find playing all on one screen quite painful, especially when it comes to looting.

Anyway, glad to help. Good luck.

Re: New to multiboxing...

I'm considering using 2 monitors but for looting I use <*********************> so looting is a bit easy but I can see where using multiple monitors would be quite favorable.

I'm ordering my parts in a couple of weeks and decided to go dual video cards for numerous other reasons so it would only make sense for me to get an extra monitor as well ad split the screens per monitors. I do appreciate your testing as it did play a part in me going with 2 cards.

Re: New to multiboxing...

You don't really need to use 2 monitors or programs to pick your legendaries. From time to time, or before leaving an area, just check maps on all accounts. Eventually you might have to back your tracks...

I have been running a program to track legendaries for a time (everybody knows its name so I won't bother saying it here), and I don't believe it's 100% reliable. Also I would use it to track imperial gems, but I couldn't figure out how to, so I use don't use any program for now.

The same exactly. I have a good video card and SSD drives so I'm not playing on all-low res, but I tagged "low effects" option which BTW looks like the same quality to me when I'm playing.

Also there is currently a bug which text chats (Blizzard admitted it) so if ever you are having some small freezes while playing, be sure that you leave every chat for all of your characters, and re-check this from time to time. It seems that every time I log on, my characters are back in the "clan chat".

Thanks for the feedback, I will eventually run dual monitor but not right off the bat.

On a whole other note I started off just upgrading my current graphics card & just decided to do a whole system upgrade and well although I have a EVGA gtx760 FTW edition sitting here in it's box I ordered two more along with the rest of my setup. I somehow went from going with a modest build to a $4k order on new components, it had to do in part with the wife reacting fine to a setup I planned for next year and asking me why I don't just order it now instead of waiting. It's probably one of the only times I listened to her. lol

If you have a hunt around some of the performance testing sites, e.g. tomshardware, anandtech, others I don't know... you will find they pretty much all state that the current generation video cards don't saturate a x16 PCIe 2.0 bus, let alone a x16 PCI 3.0 bus, so you wont be losing out on any performance by putting a PCIe 3.0 compatible card into a PCIe 2.0 slot.

If it saturated the bus, the SLI/XFire boys would all be complaining about the 8x4x4x configurations holding them back (well, you might actually be hitting some limits in this setup, which is why most total enthusiates will look for a x16x8x8 MB).

I already caved in man, I tried real frigging hard to convince myself not to put together a brand new system but the wife talked me into it (it didn't take much talking) I put together a parts list that I'm ordering soon. LOL
