Stuck at Checking for updates...

For whatever reason when I try to launch my team it will get stuck on Diablo III Launcher and it says Checking for updates and every 30 seconds or so it will give me an error that says Battle.net Update has stopped working. If this makes a difference I am using Windows 8 and I can launch Diablo III without Inner Space.
