Game Crashes when playing 4 Witch Doctors

I noticed this happening allot when I was leveling, and at first I scratched it up to nothing major. But as time has passed I noticed that these crashes only happen when I am playing my four WD's. Which is mostly all I play anymore.

What happens is one screen will freeze then crash and I get a Lavish Software crash reporter, which I always fill out and report. This happens quite frequently and I have no idea what to do to stop it from happening. Any suggestions would be great.

Here is the crash report, it has happened tonight about every 5 to 15 minutes playing my WD. At first I thought it was just during act3, but now its happening in act 1 and 2. I am going to go and make sure all my drivers are up to date now and see if I can get this to stop so I can play. any help in understanding how I can fix this would be great.

The "DrawText" crash you are getting has been around for a long time, and from my end appears to be an NVIDIA driver bug. I have tried to "fix" it numerous times over the years but as I have not been able to reproduce the bug on any of my machines -- less than 10 people have reported this issue, since about 2008 (so it's likely something specific to your PC) -- there is no reliable way for me to test and fix the problem. I've adjusted the related code numerous times since it was first reported. As of right now, I have no new information about the crash.

You may be able to avoid the crash by disabling Inner Space's FPS indicator. Select your Character Set in the top left pane and then in the bottom right pane, check "Hide FPS (framerate) indicator", and Export to Inner Space.

"Diagnostics for game crashes" from the latest ISBoxer Toolkit could also potentially provide some insight. In ISBoxer's Help menu select "About ISBoxer" and, if it gives you an update link, use it. Then use "Diagnostics for game crashes" from the Help menu and paste me the diagnostic info.

I have good news.

Someone reported this DrawText crash under Direct3D 11 instead of Direct3D 9, and now I believe I have the information I need to build a workaround -- assuming that it's the same issue. Stay tuned.

The issue may be related to running out of Video RAM, so you might be able to decrease some graphics options in order to mitigate the problem in the meantime.

I have an experimental fix available now in Inner Space build 5848. This is currently the development build of Inner Space. To try it out, right click Inner Space in the system tray and select Patcher, check "Download development (test) patches" then close and restart Inner Space to let it patch up.

Awesome, I am very excited. Thanks for such quick response in dealing with this and I hope this fixes it. I have downloaded the new patch and I am fixing to get on and test it for few hours. I will let you know.

Ok so it was still crashing but I think I may have figured out what was causing it for me at least.

I notice that when it crashes, one of the windows will freeze at first, and if I use the hotkey to swap it will not do anything. I use 2 monitor layout with a hole for swapping the 4 clients. So when I saw it freeze this last time I went into my nvidia control panel and unchecked my extra monitor disabling it. Then I hit my hotkeys to swap to my 4 windows a few times and my first client is1 which had just froze came back and did not crash like it always had before.

I will run with my 2nd monitor disabled for now and see if this may have been causing some issues, but I believe it is.

Well scratch that, I ran about an 30 minutes on just 1 monitor and it crashed is4. I didn't notice it was frozen until it shut down.

It will freeze where I can't switch to it, but it still lets me control that character for few seconds. Sorry I could not help more.

EDIT: UPDATE

In an effort to give you as much information as possible I wanted to let you know something I noticed, something that has happened to me in the past on other games, mostly Starcraft 2.

I used to play SC2 allot and sometimes it would just freeze, or not really freeze but I would lose the picture, it would go black. I figured out that if i hit control-alt-delete and then hit task manager that would fix it. I don't really know why, but doing that in game always fixed it and my picture came back.

So in the past 15 minutes, the game has frozen about 3 times on random clients. When I noticed it I would hit the hotkey to swap to that client and what I got was a solid white screen and sound, I could see the character responding to me in combat on the other screens but on that screen nothing but a white screen and sound. I hit control-alt-delete and then opened task manager, then swapped back to the client and the game video had resumed and the crash had been prevented.

I hope this information can help you. I really hope I can fix this annoying issue. If I don't catch the game window freezing then It crashes and I have to relog. Thanks.

Ok will do, I have been avoiding the crashes when it freezes by using alt tab delete and hitting my task manager, then switching back to the window that was previously frozen.

Next time it freezes I will let it crash and use privatepaste to copy over the crash report for you.
