Can you please advise on hardware upgrades?

Hello!

I have been playing Diablo 3 ever since vanilla and only recently tried out isBoxer. I discovered that my current cpu can actually handle the stress load for triple boxing but I would like to quad box if possible. The drawback is my current setup needs to be upgraded and its been a while -

Windows 7 Enterprise 64-bit SP1
Intel i7 920 @ 2.67 ghz
ASUSTeK Computer INC. P6T DELUXE V2 (LGA1366)
Kingston 6.00GB Triple-Channel DDR3 @ 534MHz
1024MB ATI Radeon HD 4890

After talking to a friend of mine, my plan is to overclock cpu up to 3.6 and go buy some liquid cooling. Should be cheap, 50-60$

Upgrade my graphics card into the R9 280-
http://www.amazon.com/Gigabyte-Radeon-D ... rds=r9+280

Upgrade the RAM to 3x4 DDR3-
http://www.amazon.com/Crucial-Ballistix ... 3+ddr3+ram

Upgrading to a SSD harddrive
http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-Electroni ... +pro+256gb

So all in total it comes out to just a shy above $500 which is what I was wanting to spend to upgrade. My Main question/concern is, will this be enough to enable me to quad-box without any lag or screen tear or any visible deficiencies?

I am going to be really sad if I spend all this money and I wont even be able to quadbox. My hope/goal is to be able to quadbox and stream at the same time on twitch.tv

Any suggestions or advice I would greatly appreciate!

How did you discover that your computer can handle three instances of D3? Are you monitoring your hardware? If you're not, then I suggest that you do because then you can see what's really going on and you can likely make a more educated decision on the matter.

A stable overclock is never guaranteed. What happens if you can only reach 3GHz stable? What happens if you melt your chip trying to hit 3.6GHz?

Mixing different types of RAM can cause unwanted effects.

I would (again) suggest monitoring your hardware to see what's really going on under the hood.

Re: Can you please advise on hardware upgrades?

I would go first for RAM extension. I can mutlibox Diablo III on an "old" computer (a dual-core) that has been upgraded to 24 GB RAM. Fans are making about as much noise as an helicopter, but it works (and never crashes). So you probably don't need to upgrade your CPU. Besides, i7-920 is what I have on my "new" computer (LOL). Also, I don't overclock.

SSDs will help mainly when loading areas, and a video card upgrade might not be necessary if you remove shadows, choose "Low Effects", etc.

Re: Can you please advise on hardware upgrades?

I generally look at the Motherboard + CPU + Ram, as a single upgrade component.
I'm not saying you cannot upgrade just the Ram...

It's just that a newer CPU will almost always require a new Motherboard, if you upgrade every 3-5 years.
And you'll generally need different ram, if you upgrade at that pace.

All of the other peripherals, such as Video Card, Solid-State Drives, etc...
Can be upgraded separately, and can transition from a previous system to a new system.

The i7 920 was a killer CPU for quite a while.
I've actually upgraded from it twice now, and the current system is four years old.

I'm not sure what your budget is, but I'd look into the combination of Motherboard + CPU + Ram... that's the backbone of a new system.
