WoW is the only game with the IWT + CTM combination that works like this, and people (including myself) multiboxed melee teams even before the feature existed. You don't actually have to use it at all, although it is quite nice in PVP.
The easiest thing to do is lead with your tank, with your melees on auto-follow. Run slightly past the mob and turn around, and fight. Your tank will be in front, with the rest behind or to the side of the mob.
And since in WoW they stop auto-following when they do a melee swing, you can adjust a bit with your tank without having to move them. Manually press an IWT hotkey as needed instead of putting it in your DPS buttons; this will also give you a better idea of when they might be about to run off, and then you can press the IWT key or auto-follow key again to prevent that.
