My first experience with ISBoxer

Hi. I thought I would take my time to write why I did not like ISBoxer instead of just leave and don't give feedback :)

The interface was really nice. Had my screens and characters set up in no time, but when it was time to try it out the problems began.

* Login. I just could NOT use the repeater for mouse/key to login. Only the first acc gets logged in, the rest gets a #104 and swapping around to get 5 accounts login each test was exhausting and annoying considering they all have same password and are on same account..
^This was "user error" nvm this ;)

* Key Repeater. Often keystrokes get lost somehow like opening config on 3/5 screens.
^This still happens but probably me pressing too fast sometimes or something

* Attacking. When I press like 1 to attack a mob I have to often tap it 2 times to make slaves attack. (Yes repeater is off in combat, no conflict with that).
^Only happens with my locks, might be a conflict with an addon or something

* Turning in quests. I have bound f12 to interact with target both in game and in ISBoxer settings but the slaves will just ignore it so I have to swap to each screen to turn in Q's, even though I also added the addon Jamba.
^Worked after I relogged all characters

* Quests where you have to click objects. Again, swapping around the screen to click objects and getting confused which screen I last did the click on.
^As everything is aligned now I can just broadcast mouse to do this.

* Sluggish GFX. I have multiboxed before with only keyrepeater and had no lag with similar settings (all on low, 60/15 FPS). Somethings seems to eat performance in ISBoxer or with my settings in ISBoxer.
^After I manually set mainscreen to cores 1-4 and the "slaves" to 6,7,8 and 9 (one each) everything is smooth

This is not ment as whining, only feedback on my experience with ISBoxer. Thanks for letting me try it out.

Re: Why I did not like ISBoxer

None of this is normal. You're on day two, you should be phrasing this as asking for help during your trial as opposed to leaving a note after your trial is completed that you ran into trouble and you didn't know what to do about it.

Regarding performance, HOWTO: Tweak your framerate covers the bases pretty well. You can certainly make adjustments to get the same framerate with ISBoxer as you would get without.

* Login. I just could NOT use the repeater for mouse/key to login. Only the first acc gets logged in, the rest gets a #104 and swapping around to get 5 accounts login each test was exhausting and annoying considering they all have same password and are on same account..

Follow any quick start guide or video and the first thing it says under log in is to turn off Key Maps so that your ISBoxer Hotkeys don't interfere with entering your password.
From WoW Quicker Start Guide, Part 2: Log in:
Don't skip this part. If you skip this part, you are going to ask me why your password doesn't work. It's not going to work because Key Maps are enabled and you don't want your keys to be mangled when you're entering your password. You want to type in your password, not activate auto-assisting.

* Attacking. When I press like 1 to attack a mob I have to often tap it 2 times to make slaves attack. (Yes repeater is off in combat, no conflict with that).

This is one of those things it would help to see your configuration for, I don't know what if anything you have configured. You might just be running into the delay inherent in /assist, if you are quickly targeting something new and pressing 1 as soon as you target it for example.
Image
This applies to anyone who uses /assist, not just ISBoxer. That's the only thing that comes to mind unless you've configured something for the 1 key, then it's a matter of correcting that setup.

* Key Repeater. Often keystrokes get lost somehow like opening config on 3/5 screens.

What key are you hitting to "open config"? Are you hitting Escape to bring up the WoW system menu in all windows? Because Escape also cancels your Target in the game, so if some windows have a target and others don't, then the ones without a target will open the menu and the others will cancel target instead. Hitting it again will close it in some windows and open it in others. To avoid this behavior you can press F1 before hitting Escape, so that they each target himself first and have consistent behavior.

Re: Why I did not like ISBoxer

One of the problems I had was just dumbness in my end, I had missed the part with disabling key maps. Should have read a manual instead of watching vid tutorials :P

The most annoying uissue I have is the questing actually. Just can't get all characters to turn in quests, but I'll try to get around this if I get around to fiddle with it tomorrow.

Re: Why I did not like ISBoxer

Some of these issues (Attacking, Turning in Quests) are most-likely due to errors in your configuration. See sharing your configuration.

Others are due to not understanding how the game client works (Key Repeater and Esc - already addressed above) or what is possible with the game client (Quests where you have to click game objects). In this last case I presume you are talking about ground spawns. Since it is not possible given the limitations of the game to ensure that each character is in exactly the same location and has their camera pointing in exactly the same direction (without breaking the game's rules), you will either need to use Repeater and click multiple times, or switch between windows.

Re: My first experience with ISBoxer

Edited my first posts title and post so it doesn't "bash" ISBoxer, my first post did sound more like a review which was unfair considering I used it 2 days.

After a whole weekend getting used to how I best use broadcasting, positioning and other tactics I ended up buying ISBoxer as the experience was outperforming simple keyrepeater programs by far.

If I like the tool this much after a few days I guess I will love it when I truly get a grip on things.

If you want to rule out any issues in your ISBoxer configuration, share it.

Re: My first experience with ISBoxer

The most fun I've ever had with games is thanks to ISBoxer....
Just got done leveling 5 monks on Azjol-Nerub.. From start to finish took 3 weeks. ( I have a full time job :P )
Formed my own guild who is now level 15 lol...

I can't say enough about this program...
