Translating Modifier WoW Macros to Isboxer

Hello ISBoxer peoples. As my first post I want to say fantastic software Lax. I never did anything more than 3 man with Keyclone many years ago and it was not optimal (collection quests... /facepalm). I now have a variance of teams from 3, 4 and 5 size for different purposes.

I have tinkered with different areas of ISBoxer and have managed to multibox quite successfully off of the documentation, some forum posts and videos by Mirai. I have run into an issue I have no been able to figure out.

I have a 3 hunter team and I want to use a Modifier Macro in WoW but convert it to ISBoxer to transmit to all my toons.

The idea is:

Hitting 6 on the action bar [nomod]
Toon 1 places Immolation Trap
Toon 2 places Frost Trap
Toon 3 places Snake Trap

Hitting Shift 6 on the action bar [mod:shift]
Toon 1 places Frost Trap
Toon 2 places Snake Trap
Toon 3 places Immolation Trap

and so on and so forth with mod:alt.

I tried giving each character a macro in wow with the right details, but Shift doesn't seem to translate to the other windows and likely for good reason. So my main character can make use of this macro, his companions cannot. I noticed some really in-depth macros linked from here on dual-boxing.com that leads me to believe I need to build these macros in ISBoxer, however... I haven't quite figured out where I would need to put them so that each characters button press although the same, will interact with a different spell.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Translating Modifier WoW Macros to Isboxer

You say "convert it to ISBoxer" but unless you want to put the macro itself in ISBoxer instead of setting it up in the game, you don't have to really do anything special for the macro in ISBoxer. The answer that is best for you is actually much simpler.

1 through = are broadcast with auto-assist by default. If you want other keys to do the same thing (auto-assist and broadcast) such as shift+1 through shift+=, alt+1 through alt+=, etc these need to be added manually.

WoW Quick Start Guide: Quickly add many hotkeys, optionally with auto-assist

The hard way would involve adding your macro to the WoW Macro Library, and you could use complicated pre-processor twiddling to take one "macro" in ISBoxer-land to build your 3 different macros. I recommend doing whichever way sounds easier to you, in order to achieve your goal (probably not this way :) )

Re: Translating Modifier WoW Macros to Isboxer

Thanks for the reply and the details. I actually managed to get it to work by creating the macro in World of Warcraft and then adding mapped keys to ISBoxer.

This macro sits in hotkey 6

#showtooltip
/cast [nomod] Explosive Trap; [mod:alt] Ice Trap; [mod:ctrl] Snake Trap;

And I just modified the mapped key where Alt+6 presses Alt+6 for said characters and the same for Ctrl+6. I am not sure if this is the most sophisticated method, but it works and opens up new ways to play with more fluidity where you don't want to blow the same spell on a group of characters.

eg: 3 rogues. Pressing 6 shouldn't all use smokebomb and they can share the spell macro with Alt and Ctrl modifiers so you can get 3 smoke bombs consecutively instead of instantly.

Thanks

Re: Translating Modifier WoW Macros to Isboxer

Another way of accomplishing that is to put the toons into an Action Target Group (ATG).

Then you make a mapped key.
Give it whatever hot key you actually want to press.
Set what it sends to World of Warcraft (which doesn't have to be the same as the hot key).

And check the box that says, "Round-robin, within target group".

Which means, Smokebomb goes to Toon A on press 1, to Toon B on press 2, to Toon C on press 3... etc.
And once the last toon has gone, the next press will send that keybind to the first character.

Effectively, this is the same as what you have.
But if you consistently use the same keybind for an ability as the Wow hotkey... you can one-box play any of your toons and know all your keybinds.
And you box them, and round-robin your effects without changing any of your binds or remembering Alt is one toon, Shift is another, etc.

That is actually extremely handy to know, although I like the control that I have with mine as it can apply to different situations there is a definite value to the ATG which I had never tinkered with.
