how to create a hotkey?

i want to use one of the F-keys as a hotkey:, let's say F9. it must do what the default key 9 does. i have bound the key in wow and created a mapped key, but it does not work and i have no idea what i am doing wrong. any help, even a simple link, would be greatly appreciated. btw, before i created the mapped key in isboxer, f9 did what it was supposed to do, summon the mount, but only in the current window. the command did not get broadcast even though it was defined the same way in the other window. after i created the mapped key, it stopped working altogether.

Re: how to create a hotkey?
I'm not 100% certain what you are trying to do. I read your description as trying to create a Mapped Key so that when you press F9 ISBoxer sends F9 to all your game instances.
This is an example of a Broadcasting Mapped Key. Here are the instructions. Note that for your example you won't need auto-assist if this is just so you mount on each character.
If that is not what you are trying to do (I was confused by your mention of the 9 key), then could you describe exactly what you want to press and what key presses you want sent to each window? If it is still not working, provide a link to your ISBoxer configuration.

Alge beat me to it while I typed this, but I am still posting my response anyway
Without actually seeing what you did, it's nigh impossible to tell you what you did wrong. If the following information does not solve it for you, then see HOWTO: Share your configuration for better support and show me what you've got set up
If all you wanted to do was make F9 send F9 to all windows, then all you need is straight from the Quick Start Guide -- WoW Quick Start Guide: Quickly add many hotkeys, optionally with auto-assist. "Optionally with auto-assist" means that, if you wanted to, this key CAN assist your main and the instructions cover that option.
If you want F9 to send *9* instead of F9 to all windows (unclear on whether you typo'd that or not), then STILL start with the above instructions to create the Mapped Key. But once it's made, then you will want to go into Step 1 of the Mapped Key that was created, and change the Action that says "F9 -> all". All you would have to do is change the Key Combination it sends to the game to 9, and Export to Inner Space.

Re: how to create a hotkey?
Thank you both. it worked as a charm. i wanted indeed just to broadcast the key.
Re: how to create a hotkey?
well, here i am again i'm afraid.
this time i wanted to change the jump key, wanted to change the default to \
followed the instructions, but what worked once did not work now. i created a key in the Ftl Dps Keys-Mapped Keys with Many New Mapped Keys, then exported to innerspace. but the key is not broadcast, only the current window receives it.
i have under variable keystrokes, the same key under default key combination.
where did i go wrong?

Re: how to create a hotkey?
Where you went wrong firstly is wanting to "change the default", but actually going to add a new mapped key.
The "Others jump" mapped key is in the General (or for non-wow, "Non-combat") Key Map. You can select that Key Map in the top left pane, then in the bottom left pane select Others jump. Then on the right, set the Hotkey. That's the key you push, to activate that particular Mapped Key.
You're not using a Variable Keystroke if you used Many New Mapped Keys. The Mapped Key that already existed does use the variable keystroke. It should still be set to Space unless you changed the key binding in the game itself. The Variable Keystroke is NOT related to the key YOU push, just the key that gets sent to the game by the Mapped Key that is configured to use this Variable Keystroke.
If you want to continue with what you created, then ignore Variable Keystrokes altogether, and go back only to your Mapped Key, the 1 Step it has, and any Actions within it (Many New Mapped Keys adds a Keystroke Action as opposed to a Variable Keystroke Action)

Re: how to create a hotkey?
you lost me lax. forget what i did or did not do, because i tried to what i understood you told me to do and it still does not work. is there a way of starting from scratch without having to recreate all my character sets?
i have changed the key binding in the game to the key i want to use \
it is defined under variable key strokes and i dont see how to delete it without deleting the jump option altogether
it is also defined in others jump under general-mapped key bottom left
i have deleted it from the ftl dps list.
and, should probably be on a new thread, each time i want to export, ixboxer tells me that the wrong account and resolution are being used and whether it can make the changes. clicking yes does not solve the problem, i have to type in the account names each time i start.
i was wondering: the default jump key, before i messed things up, does it make everybody jump or only the main window? because if that is the case, it is already working. i need the others to jump to lift up in the air or in the water. with the follow command they do it automatically. am i looking at a non-existent problem?

Re: how to create a hotkey?
Okay... given your new explanation (I apologize for not being a mind reader), the only thing you probably needed to change is to enable the Hold option on the Mapped Key it created for you.
Jump is a movement key, and all movement keys (even jump) need the Hold option enabled -- so that the key is held down in each window while you hold down the Hotkey. It's an option on the Mapped Key itself, which means that you would have to select the Key Map in the top pane... which brings up the Key Map editor in the bottom left pane, where you can pick individual mappings within this collection of mappings, in order to edit one of them... Once you select the Mapped Key in the bottom left pane, the Hold option is a check box in the bottom right pane.

Re: how to create a hotkey?
it is hopeless lax, i messed the things too much up. as far as i can see, the hold option is enabled. so let's really start from scratch. suppose i have just installed isboxer, and, against your better judgement, have decided to change the jump key to another key whatever it may be. how would i do that? this way i will have the right steps starting from ground zero, and this thread can still have some meaning for others.
anyway it is not my fault: it is friday the 13th, right?!
