ISBoxer working but questions regarding questing

Hi guys,

I'm totally new to this whole multiboxing thing so I started today with 2 hunters RAF'ed.
Everything is working fine but I'm wondering how can I do questing with ISBoxer?
Quests like kill xx mobs or collect xx heads from this and that is clear with interact with target, but what is with quests like use this item on the xx times?
Or collect these floating orbs something like this? I mean they don't glow for the master anymore if he has finished it.

Any adivces?

Thanks!

Quests are usually inconvenient, you just have to suck it up and get through it or find a way to skip it. You can switch windows to whichever guy needs to do it at the time, and your other guys will follow and assist you the same way they did from the previously "main" window.

Re: ISBoxer working but questions regarding questing

Ok thanks.

I got two other problems... first one, when I swap to the secondary screen and swap back, then the keys don't work anymore. When I Press "1" or Alt+F nothing happens.

Other thing is the Interact with NPC thing... i set the binding in wow to ALT+A in ISBoxer under Keys Maps -> General -> Interact with Target set the hotkey to ALT+A. Deleted the one mentioned under Steps and created a new one ... the Actions -> New Keystroke Action ...there Window: All w/o Current and the hotkey I choose in Wow ALT+A.
When I move the slave to the mob i target and hit the key, nothing happens.

I'd have to see your config (see the sticky at the top of the forum for how to do that) to guess at why that would happen when you swap screens, but unless you turned off Key Maps both 1 and Alt+F should continue to work.

Again seeing your config would probably help me to follow what is happening. It's possible that your question is answered in our FAQ under I recently set a key binding in the game and now . . .

Re: ISBoxer working but questions regarding questing

Your Interact with Target mapped key is destroyed and your guys will not move when you hit it, as configured. The easiest way to fix it is going to be to go to File and select Clear, then use the Quick Setup Wizard again. Then follow the Quick Start Guide's IWT instructions http://isboxer.com/wiki/WoW:Quick_Start_Guide#Interaction_with_NPCs again but don't delete the first Step or make a new Step. The only changes you need to make are *in* the first Step.

Here's mine. My IWT key in WoW is J, and my hotkey in ISBoxer is Alt+J. So when I press Alt+J, all of my guys IWT.

The other unusual thing about your configuration is that you have removed the link to General Key Map from your Character Set. So General will be off by default (which has the invite and follow keys) while the others are on. This would also be corrected by the File, Clear and re-running the Quick Setup Wizard as suggested above. But otherwise, to fix this you would select your Character Set in the top pane, then drag General from the top pane into the bottom left pane.

Welcome to the world multiboxing! The multiboxing playstyle is in some ways much different then playing with just a single character. I recommend staying away from PvP until your used to the playstyle. I don't know about you, but I absolutely love targetting someone in PvP, pressing a button, and watch as the target goes from 100% HP to 0% HP in under three seconds. :D ...Although, once the other team realizes I'm multiboxing, they tend to focus on me which really sucks. :( Anyways, I'd recommend you get an in game addon called "jamba". It helps simplify and make things a bit easier for a multiboxer.

When multiboxing don't be surprised if you encounter one or two (ignorant) people who think your a goldfarmer and/or bot.

In my experience this is a list of the most common quests you'll do until you get to the cataclysm zones.
1: Go to location. Kill zxy monster. Turn in quest. You want to do this type of quest as much as possible; this type of quest is the easiest and quickest out of all of the quest types.
2: Go to location. Collect zxy object off of monsters at this location. Turn in quest. Most of the time you want to avoid this type of quest; most of the time the object is not party loot, meaning only one character can loot the object off a single monster. Some quests let all of your characters loot the same item off of the same monster. Doing this kind of quest usually is slower then the first type, but it's sometimes it's faster then the forth type of quest.
3: Some sort of quest involving the vehicle system.
4: Go to location. Collect zxy object off of the ground. Turn in the quest. You want to avoid as much of these quests as possible. This type of quest is the worst of the lot and they'll only slow you down.

In my experience there is a somewhat uncommon quests type you can exploit. For example, there is one quest in the burning steps where you have to go to a location and grab a dragonkin. If your master and your slave(s) are targeting the dragonkin, then you press the IWT button to grab the dragonkin, ALL of your characters will grab it. All of your characters will get credit for grabbing the same dragonkin. In other words, if you can target the object and interact with it, so can your slaves, which means, your master AND your slaves can get credit at the same time for targetting it and interacting with it. This type of quest is nearly as good as the first type of quest (see above).

Sometimes it's faster to level if you grind monsters or do a dungeon instead of questing. My advice to you is to do as many quests as you can on one character - without multiboxing. Once you complete a zone ask yourself, how many of the first type, second type, third type, and forth type of quests are present in this zone? Look for zones with the fastest questing possible. (tip: nagrand, in the outlands, is insanely awesome for an alliance multiboxer. there are sooooo many of the first type of quests in nagrand)

If i'm on the forth type of quest, I'll make sure my slaves loot the objects before my master does. This ensures I can see where the objects are without having to look at where they are on one of my slave's screen. If i'm on the second type of quest, once the monster is dead I'll have my slaves follow my master as my master runs over the monster's corpse. I'll position my master so it's far enough away from the corpse that my master can't loot the corpse, but close enough for my slaves to loot the corpse. I'll press my "Target last target"* button, then my IWT button, and then my slaves will loot the corpse. It took me a while to get used to doing this; this is an alternative way to loot a corpse if you do not want to use click to move.
(*You can set a keybind in game so you can target the last hostile/friendly target you were targeting before something happened that caused you to lose their target, such as the target dying...)
