Question regarding Slave movement

What is out of experience the best way to handle Slave movement ?

I didn't boxed for some time and yesterday i decided to run HoO on my 4 Chars first 3 bosses where not a issue but than as i was going for Setesh i run against a wall how to beat him without having the ability to move all slaves individual.

My current idea how i might approach the slave movement is :
CTRL + Movement keys for Slave 1
Alt + Movement Keys for Slave 2
Shift + Movement Keys for Slave 3
(don't need any more since i only Quadbox - Prot Paladin, Resto Sham, Shadow Priest, Fire Mage)

Any better ideas or suggestions regarding this ?

Re: Question regarding Slave movement

I guess you are doing that on normal mode with 4 toons only? There is no need to move toons individually with Setesh. You want max burst dps and burn him down as fast as possible while ignoring the gates and adds. I usually switch specs on my healer and tank to dps to do Setesh - he cant be tanked and I need no heal because he is going down fast enough.

PS: I think your initial idea of being able to move toons individually is too complicated and will take to much time.

Re: Question regarding Slave movement

The question wasn't in regards how to beat him, i am fully aware that he is not tankable i was just curious how other ppl if they do ,handle individual slave movement.

Why now individual Slave movement ? Well in my current setup i use on my old G15 keyboard G7-G12 to move/turn/strafe all slaves if necessary however i am not fully happy with that solution since i usualy leave slaves in different spots during boss fights, and alot of encounters require only at times that a specific person needs to move and not the whole pack.

Re: Question regarding Slave movement

I still dont understand how individual slave movement is required for the Setesh encounter but in general - most boxers just move the pack. Reason for me is probably because I'm used to playing teams of 5 or (1 + 4) equal characters and even if I need to spread them out to prevent aoe hitting all at once its much easier to move all at once then to memorize positions and hotkeys and try to move them individually.

Re: Question regarding Slave movement

Ok as i said i only took Setesh as an example .

Lets take Nalorakk as an example instead, since yes it is possible to do normal Setesh without individual slave movement.

Or in other words i shouldn't even mentioned a boss name, and should had just asked "how" other players if they do handle individual slave movement ...

Re: Question regarding Slave movement

Generally, they don't. Micromanaging movement on a per-toon basis when you're playing 5 of them is next to impossible. Personally, I have normal movement for my current window, and I use my G13's thumbstick to move all of my others.

You might be better off using Click to Move if you want to do that level of micromanagement. You could use one interactive Video FX per window, and click as needed. I definitely wouldn't want to have to remember specific modifiers per window in a pinch

Re: Question regarding Slave movement

Thanks for the answer Lax , i fully understand that if u play more than 5 you can't have that kinda micromanagement however playing only 4 i feel like i miss out on something.

Will def give this a try after i figure out where i put all the Video FX.

Re: Question regarding Slave movement

I don't use individual slave movement either. I have my main on my G13 thumbstick and my slaves on G15(modifier)+(G10,G11,G4,G12). I also have a spread out slaves macro on G15+G18. The benefit of doing it this way is a can drive my main and slaves in different directions at the same time using one hand (I suspect Lax's setup also allows him to do that).

I also have Video FX set up to allow monitoring of positions when necessary but never thought of using CTM for moving individual slaves.
