Setting up ISBoxer for rotating toon list?

Hi guys,

I currently have a Pally on one account and 5 Shamans on other accounts (i.e. 6 accounts in total). I want to start running instances where the Pally will always be tanking, but I will be rotating the Shamans to gear and rep them all up.

Is it possible to set up an ISboxer group with more than 5 toons, but only ever 5 sessions being active, i.e. being able to select a group on the fly from a pool of toons? Or would I need to set up a group in ISboxer for each combination?

Cheers,
S.

If you want to use the ISBoxer addon and the auto-FTL macros, you have to setup a team for each configuration.

Re: Setting up ISBoxer for rotating toon list?

I think this will work. I haven't tested it because I'm not currently playing WoW.

1. Set up a Character is ISBoxer for each WoW character. The account information is stored with the Character.
2. Make a Character Set in ISBoxer with the pally and 4 of the shamans.

When you want to swap out one of the shamans:

1. Log out to character select in WoW.
2. In ISBoxer, drag the new Character into the Slot you want it to appear in. It will replace the old Character in that slot.
3. Export (Ctrl+E) from ISBoxer.
4. Log in and test that invite, follow and assist work correctly.
5. ...
6. Profit?

Yeah, that would probably work except any keybinds that are 'send to toon' won't work anymore, use 'send to window' or 'send to slot' Just saying....

Edit: fixed confusing wording

Send to Slot, should still work.
The new character is in slot x, instead of the old character.
But it is still in the slot.

You'd likely want the Paladin to always be in Slot 1.
And to set up round-robin effects to rotate through Slots 2-5.

Not if you use the procedure I described.

You want something general you need to set it up to be general, i.e use the slots. Otherwise, enjoy setting up all those character sets.

I think Lax posted something about this and suggested keymap virtualization as a solution. Or maybe developed keymap virtualization as the solution.

Re: Setting up ISBoxer for rotating toon list?

You guys are doing fine ;)

Setting it up to switch toons out a lot isn't really that hard you just have to understand what all of the keys are going to do. If you use the generated FTL, it's using the character names from your config in order to follow or assist. What I do has been suggested -- I replace toons in my Character Set, export, and log in from character selection.

It takes a some planning from there to make sure that everything is still going to work as desired. Like round-robin keys that now have one less character, if they are using the new check box this is pretty painless. Virtualization of key maps or mapped keys (as tanker mentioned) can separate the actual class-specific details from your hotkeys, so my character's rotations just plug right into my DPS hotkey, etc. (As opposed to the usual concept where your DPS hotkey or hotkeys drives rotations, think of it like attaching something arbitrary to the hotkey instead...) You certainly don't have to use virtualization -- it's over the average user's head -- but this is indeed what it is for.
