Movement Questions

Greetings!

I've been using ISBoxer for EVE Online, but I'm interested in trying out 5-boxing WoW. I've read that they removed the /follow command from Battlegrounds & Arena, but I'm curious; does mouse broadcasting not work well? I would think that if your characters are on/at the exact same location, you wouldn't need to rely on /follow. Does anyone have any insight on this? Thanks!

What you end up with is this -- FAQ: Why do my toons move in different directions?

The long and the short of it is that -- other than very specific times like initially zoning into a dungeon -- you will NOT have your characters at the precisely same location and they will NOT be facing precisely the same direction. So, broadcasting W to move them all forward will NOT walk them in precisely the same direction, and they will NOT end up in the same place after a few seconds of movement.

Thanks for the hasty reply! I can see how this could be an issue in some cases, but I really don't think it's all that inconvenient or bad.

For Battlegrounds:
- You zone into your BG of choice where everyone is entered into the instanced BG at the exact same location (my toons will already be in position and ready to be moved via broadcasting)
- I die a horrific, but glorious death where I respawn at the spirit resurrection at the exact same location for each toon (my toons will already be in position and ready to be moved via broadcasting)

If my characters start at the exact same location, facing the exact same direction; wouldn't both mouse and key broadcasting work flawlessly? I've seen first-hand where people are multi-boxing and their toons are following them around in a slow, train-like fashion and it seems very inefficient. I just think that if you start off with each client in the same position and facing the same direction, there's no way you can go wrong. I've never tried it, so my lack of experience could prove me wrong.

:[ I don't want to fork out the money if I'm wrong! Are you suggesting that I try it because you think I should find out for myself why mouse + key broadcasting doesn't work, or because it might work well enough?

Yes, that is exactly what I am suggesting. Although you didn't seem to want to believe the creator of ISBoxer when he told you the same thing, so I'm not sure why you would believe me. There is a 63 page thread on the removal of /follow from battlegrounds over at dual-boxing.com. You are welcome to sift through it for further information on this issue as well. You could even get yourself a number of accounts in one of the the free-to-play MMOs and try it for yourself at no cost. There is no need to PvP, just try it in PvE.
