Stuck again- Auto Assist and 1 button dps

http://privatepaste.com/3a16073d55
Here is my profile. Low level characters. Just trying to get everything from MaRai's new 5 video pro system to start. I just fixed the auto assist to work,( from my first post that MaRai helped with) then trying to get my tank(warrior) to just do basic attacks. (level 15-16 not many talents) it broke. then trying to fix it I don't know what happened. I have been working to get pro system set up for a solid week. Not much progress for 2 days straight. (pulling hair out). Things start to make sense but 1, bad with macros, trying to learn. But since these are lowbie char. the macros are very simple. Please let me know how I screwed this up.

like a hunters target ~dazed and confused~

Re: Stuck again- Auto Assist and 1 button dps

Frankly, "auto assist" is not ideal with any kind of pro config.
Mainly because, you're using Pro-Config because you are cool, and you might want to be able to take on many targets at once, and when you get your DPSers on a target, and you CC on another, and while you switch your tank around to soak the mobs while beating down, it'll be a real brick wall moment when everyone all switches targets coz you're throwing out auto freaking assists.

Anyway, if you really want to do it, you usually have two actions in your mapped key.
Action 1, Do Mapped Key Action, Call the Non-Combat, Assist Me mapped key
Action 2, Do whatever you like.

Sometimes you may need to trade up and do this in 2 steps, on a mapped key set to execute on "press OR release" (basically this gives you the ability to have both steps execute on the single full cycle of the keydown/keyup)
Step 1, Do Mapped Key Action, Call the Non-Combat, Assist Me mapped key
Step 2, Do all the other stuff.

See where this is going?

With the Pro Setup, you would be best to throw the Do Mapped Key Action, Assist Me on the Combat Hotkeys. By the time it gets down the chain, you would have everyone all calling out, "Assist Me", "No, Assist ME", "NO!, Assist ME", "NO!!! ASSIST ME". This is because the DPS Rotation (for example), is sent to a group at the Combat Hotkeys level, so when it runs the class specific copy (via the virtualisation), all toons are running their own copy, and in each one of those, you have every toon calling Assist ME.

Re: Stuck again- Auto Assist and 1 button dps

think you misunderstood, or I cant explain.
tank gets mobs, my dps button is broke, mages sit there and don't attack. does isboxer automatically have my mages focus my target? I wasn't sure so I added it to my dps rotation.

yes I think I have that in there but I put it as step one of my dps rotation so I don't have to hit "ALT A' everytime. if my tank is on a target they should be able to dps that target. But its not working, even just my mages attacking my target. something is broke.

Re: Stuck again- Auto Assist and 1 button dps

Your mages don't do anything because in your Combat Hotkeys, you send DPS Rotation to Window:Current, or self, so that then only sends the "Do This Mapped Key In Virtual Combat" to the current window, so ONLY the current window virtualisation takes place.

The Combat Hotkeys are generally calling "Do this Virtual Combat mapped key" on groups of toons, like Window: All w/current (all) , or specific Action Target Groups, and then letting the virtualisation take care of whether an individual toon does anything.

And then that is also why you don't want Assist Me in the class specific key maps, because every character will perform their version of it. If you have it in the Combat Hotkeys, and send the Assist Me to Window;Current, then only the current window will call for the Assist.

And this video (at just before the right timecode) in MiRai's MMO-Pro series covers just what I described, if briefly

https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=p ... 69nA#t=429

It mentions he covers it in more detail in another video too.

This works like so:
You press hotkey. It executes Combat Hotkey mapped key. You send this to ALL windows. All Windows call Do DPS Rotation in Virtual Combat.
All windows then dig out their Class Specific Key Map that will replace Virtual Combat keymap, based on the settings you have per character.
Each window runs their individual DPS rotation from their Class Specific key map, executing on Self (because you have already sent to the Group in the Combat Hotkeys).

Re: Stuck again- Auto Assist and 1 button dps

ok thanks for all the help I was thinking backwards. I just wanted the mages to target my tanks target. I needed to put assist me on the tank. I am still learning the basics
