Loot macro and the Needy achievement

Does anyone know of a way to code a loot macro that makes one of the slaves Need roll and have all other characters Pass? This is only to accomplish the Needy achievement on one of the slaves. Here is what I have tried so far, with the results:

  • Scripting RollOnLoot - obtained from the post need/greed rolling macro?. Does nothing.
  • Clicking GroupLootFramexyyyyButton (where x = the frame number and yyyy = the button you want to click in the frame) - obtained from post Macro to Greed and Confirm loot rolls. Works partially. It works on all the Pass characters to make them Pass just fine (they get a UI error once per session which is tolerable), but on my Need character it causes the window to reload every time I hit it, which is not.
    • Macro I use on the Pass chars: This causes them to pass on up to four loot windows, which is fine for farming dungeons.
      Code:
      /click GroupLootFrame1PassButton
      /click GroupLootFrame2PassButton
      /click GroupLootFrame3PassButton
      /click GroupLootFrame4PassButton
    • Macro I use on the Need char: This causes the window to reload just like using "/reload" does.
      Code:
      /click GroupLootFrame1NeedButton
      /click StaticPopup1Button1
      /click GroupLootFrame2NeedButton
      /click StaticPopup1Button1
      /click GroupLootFrame3NeedButton
      /click StaticPopup1Button1
      /click GroupLootFrame4NeedButton
      /click StaticPopup1Button1
Interestingly, I can't find evidence that a Need version exists, which is odd because Pass and Greed versions do. Why implement some and not all options? I can't think of the point.

I haven't tried to use an addon to do this yet because I am trying to not load an addon for every little thing that needs to be done. The amount of 3rd party code that this game takes to run effectively is already ridiculous. It would be great if this kind of functionality could be added to Jamba though, since it must be loaded anyway. The only thing Jamba lets me do is make the slaves pass, does not work in this case. If have to use something like PassLoot then I will--but throwing a macro into an ISBoxer keymap would be much easier imo.

Re: Loot macro and the Needy achievement

I tried using PassLoot, which partially does the job but is user unfriendly. There are no instructions on how to set up rules, just examples of the kinds of logic that are possible to program it with. It isn't self explanatory and there is no help button (that I could find). I had to use trial and error to get it working.

When setting up a rule for the first time, I couldn't get it to rename the new rule--I had to leave it set as "new rule" or something like that. It ignores whatever change you make to the name and reverts it back no matter how I tried to apply it. This isn't a big deal because the rules work without being properly named.

I also haven't figured out to make it stop blocking the rolling on loot that isn't intended for the Needy char's class. I'm pretty sure there is a way to do it in there, but I'll have to keep using the trial and error method over time until I get it working. In the meantime, I just coded a keymap macro in ISBoxer to push the Accept button on the Needy char's screen and hit it whenever this happens. Ugh.

I'd still really like to use a macro instead, so if anyone knows how to do this please tell.

Re: Loot macro and the Needy achievement

Not a macro so much... but I would probably just have all the other toons "Opt Out of Loot".

And then create a Repeater Region, over the position of the Need button, and Sync it so you can use it from any of the toons on the your team, but have it only pass the click to the toon that wants the achievement.
If you wanted the achievement on multiple toons, you could send to an Action Target Group.
You could even rotate which toons Opt Out of Loot, and have the Repeater Region go to several toons.

Re: Loot macro and the Needy achievement

Thanks for the ideas Ualaa. I hadn't considered making the char that needs the Needy achievement the Jamba Master, which then would cause the other chars (including the tank that is my main window) to pass using the Opt Out function.

I'm not even going to bother with achievements on my alts. I don't really see the point. Some of these were ridiculously hard to get, and once was enough. (Like pick-pocketing Heavy Lockboxes from LBRS orcs for three months straight to get exalted with Ravenholt, part of "the Exalted" and "the Insane" titles.)
