Beginner questions, help is greatly appreciated!

1. So I'm dualboxing 2 hunters and I noticed while questing that sometimes my slave will NOT attack the Master's target. The error is due to the slave not "facing the target" (because the slave is on auto-follow, he's usually just staring at the back of the master, even during combat). Does anyone have a work-around for this? Or do I have to constantly line up the mob to be directly in front of the master/slave?

2. Also, whenever I have my slave pick up loot (by using the interact with target map key), after picking up the loot, the slave will just stand there and will STOP following the master. To get around this I press my map key for "Follow Me", but that can get a bit tedious. Is there something that I"m doing wrong?

3. Speaking of picking up loot, although I have auto-loot enabled on the slave's client, sometimes when I use the IWT map key, the slave will not automatically loot the target, and instead I must spam the IWT map key to have him pick up all the loot. Other times, the autoloot works fine. Is this a lag issue? Or is there something I can do to have autoloot working perfectly?

4. In my Add-ons menu (from the character load screen), it says my ISBoxer is out of date, is this true for anyone else? How can I get it "up to date"?

Also, I'm completely new to all this (just started today), and I'm not really macro/tech savy, but please feel free to add any kind of insight for these problems. Thank you thank you thank you! :D

PS. If it's of any help, I do have jamba installed, but I haven't really played around with it at all.

Re: Beginner questions, help is greatly appreciated!

1. This is pretty much a fact of life when multiboxing. With some classes/specs you can use IWT and then break movement to have your characters face the target. Sadly, this only works with classes that have a melee spec (I believe) so will not work with Hunters.

2. You aren't doing anything wrong. Interacting with a target breaks follow in WoW. I use a thumb button on my mouse as the Hotkey for Follow Me to make it easier to make my slaves re-follow. You could also try the follow strobe feature of Jamba.

3. Yes, you need to spam that key sometimes, particularly with quest items. Again, I use a different Hotkey, Mouse3 in this case, to make that easy to do.

4. ISBoxer 41 is currently in beta so no updates are being made to ISBoxer 40. In the meantime, just enable out of date addons.

Let me add something to this...

You'll get used to the Follow key because following/not following is the bread and butter of multiboxing. The Follow Hotkey set by default in ISBoxer is (i think) ALT+F. My advice is that you change it to something more handy. Mine is F - right there close to the movement keys (QWEASD).

F key is so imbued on me that, when revising my reports, at work, I find lots of ' F ' after ' . ' (joking ;))

I don't see why your hunter slave would not be facing the target most of the times because pets are tanking or dpsing the mob some yards away. But sometimes you can aggro the mofo and, if you're running away or kiting, the slave can be confused and not doing his job properly.

Rule of thumb: Driving a multiboxing team is like driving a truck with a trailer: long circles/watch the corners style and no reverse gears or you'll fck the trail ;)

This is the usual process when multiboxing:

1. Park the ranged/casters (press formation key or face target key*)
2. Pull or run to the mob
3. Kill kill kill
4. Press follow and move to next pack

Sometimes you'l be doing just 3. and 4.

*Face Target Key can be something like this (2 steps - on press and release):

Step 1. Do Key Map FTL IWT (you should have one, I guess) -> self
Step 2. Keystroke 'S' (your move back key)-> all

On press: the team will move in the mob direction to the desired spot.
On release: team stops. They are parked now and not following. You can make your 'dance' around the mob and position him like you want - your slaves stand still hitting him at distance.

Pressing and releasing this key will make the toons stop and face the target.

I love that analogy - very true.

Re: Beginner questions, help is greatly appreciated!

Wow thank you guys for the feedback! At first I thought I was doing this all completely wrong but I guess I'm not too far off track :)

Quick question though. I'm still not use to the isboxer vernacular, so it's kind of hard for me to interpret what TRoN is saying here:

Can anyone explain to me in a stepwise format how to accomplish this? I can see how simplified this is, but I'm having a hard time knowing exactly what to do, and I'm scared of accidently screwing up the isboxer settings :|

but again, thank you!!

Re: Beginner questions, help is greatly appreciated!

Ok!

Fisrt. ISBoxer indeed looks like a complex machine but isn't more then a script builder. So don't be affraid to test your things. You will not break it! If something goes wrong, load your last profle and there you go again :)

1. Make a backup before testing your stuff.

Menu File -> Save AS -> Give it a sequential name like myprofile_00.
Then save AS again -> name it myprofile_01.
If something goes wrong, load myprofile_00 last version.

2. http://isboxer.com/wiki/User_Manual

You should begin there. You''ll find links to more detailed information about ISBOXER concepts and procedures.

3. Face Target thing.

When you want some kind of behaviour ingame, usually, you 'program' a Mapped Key.

Mapped Keys sometimes are part of a set, like your DPS keys, so they are put inside a Key Map who is like a folder that holds Mapped Keys. When they are general purpose or you don't know were to create them, just create them inside General Key Map.

So, lets create a Mapped Key named FaceTarget inside General.

1. On the top left pane, inside Key Maps, look for General and select it.
2. The botton left pane is showing things that belong to General Key Map. There's a lot of Mapped Keys there, right?
3. Ok. Right click Mapped Keys and select 'New Mapped Key'
4. There it is! Lets name it 'FaceTarget'.
5. On the main screen, choose a key that will make your toons to Face Your Target. Press the '<' little button and assign a key.
6. Change the behaviour to 'Execute a Step when the Hotkey is: pressed OR released'
7. Right click Steps... Create 2 Steps.
8. I'm supposing you have these default 3 Mapped Keys: Click to Move ON (in Control); Click to Move OFF (in Control) and FTL Assist me (in General). If not, time to do some Google searching...
9. Now time to put the hands in the cake:

Create two Do Mapped Key Action on Step 1
Image

and a Keystroke Action
Image

Now, set them like this:

Image

The same on Step 2
Image

Image

*ALT+\ is the key I have bound ingame to IWT (Interact With Target)
*S is my 'back' key

10. Menu File -> Export All to InneSpace. This will commit what you've done. Go ingame and enjoy your new functionality :)

PS: I could have just linked this http://isboxer.com/wiki/Mapped_Key to you. Mapped Keys are the basics and the most important thing you have to understand to costumize ISBOXER to your needs. I've decided to show you this particular example because I believe it can make you, some day, do the same for someone else ;)

Re: Beginner questions, help is greatly appreciated!

TRoN, Thanks for that awesome reply! I'm going to be working on this right now and I'll be back with what progress I have made. I realize there's already a wiki for keymaps, but if any mods see this they should probably sticky your post!

Thanks again pal! Maybe you could pm me your wow toon details (server, name, etc), I'm not rich (i have like 4k gold on my highest toon lol), but maybe I can pay you back somehow in game :D
