Help with adding abilities to a Rotation?

I really have no idea what i am doing at this point, I thought i did but now i am totally confused. I just read through "HOWTO:Configure ISBoxer like a pro" but i doesn't cover how to add spells to your rotation and if it did i have clearly missed it. this is the part "Go into Step 1 of your new class-specific DPS Rotation Mapped Key, and start by adding a Keystroke Action to perform one of your primary combat abilities" if it gave me an example of what it should look like than i would be set but it doesn't. If i have missed a part of the wiki that covers this can someone please redirected me to the page

If anyone has any better tutorials i could follow please post a link.

EDIT:

I have figured Out how to add ability but when i try to export my settings to inner space i get this "Step 1 in Mapped Key "DPS Rotation" in Key Map 'Frost Mage' has a Named WoW Macro Action to preform 'Frostbolt in Mage WoW Macro Set', but that WoW Macro has no Key Combination configured".

What am i doing wrong?

I have figured Out how to add ability but when i try to export my settings to inner space i get this "Step 1 in Mapped Key "DPS Rotation" in Key Map 'Frost Mage' has a Named WoW Macro Action to preform 'Frostbolt in Mage WoW Macro Set', but that WoW Macro has no Key Combination configured".

If you got your Mage macros from someone else, then it's not something you did wrong exactly. They may not have realized that it didn't have a key combination.

In order to activate the Frostbolt macro, ISBoxer must press some key combination. When you use a Named WoW Macro Action, you're telling ISBoxer to get the key combination from a WoW macro in the library. The message is saying that it can't do what you're asking it to do, because the WoW Macro has no key combination assigned (and is therefore unusable until it has one).

In this case, the WoW macro in the library is called "Frostbolt" and it's in a WoW Macro Set called "Mage". To correct the issue, take the following steps:
1. In the top left pane under Game Helpers, select World of Warcraft
2. In the bottom left pane under WoW Macro Sets, expand Mage
3. Under Mage (now expanded), find and select Frostbolt
4. In the bottom right pane there is a Key Combination box, which has no key combo assigned. Click the < button to assign a key combination. -- see below about selecting the key combination...
5. Export to Inner Space
6. If the game is open, because we just changed a WoW Macro through ISBoxer, we will need to reload the ISBoxer Addon via /reload (or /console reloadui)

.. about selecting the key combination.. if you got your macros from someone else, you might be curious as to what key combination to assign. If you pick the wrong one, it can conflict with another existing macro (it should stop you from Exporting if so). Usually shared macro sets will use some sort of common system, for example I have recommended going down the list of macros and assigning a set of modifiers, plus rows of keyboard keys, like Ctrl+Shift+Alt+QWERTYUIOP. You can pretty much just look at the other Mage macros and pick something similar that isn't already used.

Re: Help with adding abilities to a Rotation?

The macros i'm using aren't anything special, there simple cammands like "/cast frostbolt'. I just want to figure out how to get it right before i make something more complicated.

Key combinations work for Frostbolt and varies other spell on my action bar but what if i want to use a spell that's not on my action bar. I have "/cast frostbolt" set to "1", "/cast Frost Nova" set to "4" but when i try something like "/cast Frostfire bolt" (witch isn't on my action bar) to "alt+ctrl+shift+l" it opens my quest log. Is there anyway to use a ability without it needing a Key combination?

Re: Help with adding abilities to a Rotation?

No, in order to activate an ability in World of Warcraft, the game has to do that via a key combination (to the game, it is a Hotkey). The only other way to use a WoW Macro is to use the game's /click command, but that necessarily has to be from another WoW Macro that is activated by a key combination. (Or by typing it out...)

Key combinations work for Frostbolt and varies other spell on my action bar but what if i want to use a spell that's not on my action bar. I have "/cast frostbolt" set to "1", "/cast Frost Nova" set to "4"

WoW Macros in the Game Helper cannot be assigned to your Action Bar hotkeys. WoW prevents this from happening. However, the other half of a Named WoW Macro Action is that other than providing this Macro, it is otherwise a Keystroke Action (which just sends a Keystroke). Since you ALREADY HAD them on the Action Bar, the WoW Macro portion in ISBoxer does nothing, but it sends the key and activates your ability.

To send your Action Bar hotkeys, you can actually just send a Keystroke Action instead of a Named WoW Macro Action, where the Keystroke is "1" or "4". This is what the standard "FTL DPS Keys" do, so that you configure the behavior of the button in the game the way that you are used to.

but when i try something like "/cast Frostfire bolt" (witch isn't on my action bar) to "alt+ctrl+shift+l" it opens my quest log.

Because you are making changes to WoW Macros in ISBoxer, you MUST /reload (or /console reloadui) after Exporting, to reload the ISBoxer Addon.

If that particular combo still opens your quest log after doing so, then you probably need to assign the Mage WoW Macro Set to your Character.
