Cannot get ISBoxer to work with SWTOR

Extremely frustrated.

Bought ISB/IS. Installed, followed SWTOR guide to the letter. Guessed at Window Layout (Stacked, toolbar) as this section was a little vague.

SWTOR runs flawlessly by istelf (always has). SWTOR also runs flawlessly using IS Default.

When I use the ISBoxer Character Sets launcher, SWTOR launcher popped, login, and then the first instance would hang as soon as the SWTOR load screen popped. Task manager would show "Not Responding" every single time.

I became so frustrated that I did a complete re-install of Win 7 x64, and by complete I mean:

Formatted hard drive
Installed Win 7 x64
Installed all Win 7 updates
Installed SWTOR
Installed ISB/IS

After this install, I made damn sure that ATI Crossfire was off. (Trust me, it still is).

Followed the ISB SWTOR guide again, and got the exact same issue.

I ASSURE you there is nothing else installed on this machine other than what is listed above. My Win 7 is a normal version, not some computer maker version of Win 7 with a whole bunch of other crap on the install disk. JUST Win 7 and nothing more.

Thought I had made a break-through: I changed the Window Layout to one of the Single options, and the first instance of SWTOR FINALLY loaded and worked properly. Unfortunately, the second instance began doing the exact same thing (i.e. get past the launcher just fine, but hangs forever on the load screen).

Switched back to the Stacked window layout and I am still stuck here with no where to go. First instance works flawlessly, but second instance hangs on load screen. No error messages whatsoever, just hangs and load screen stays there forever until you kill it from task manager.

Please help. I like what this program is supposed to allow you to do, but it is not working.

Once again, I can absolutely assure you that there is NOTHING else running which would interfere. This is a "from the ground up" clean install of Win 7 x64.

Re: Cannot get ISBoxer to work with SWTOR

I'll post this before Lax does....

HOWTO: Share your configuration for better support

As you can see from this forum LOTS of people, including myself, have SWTOR running without the problem you're describing, so if we can have a look at your ISB configuration then that might help us figure out what's going on :)

Oh and just a side note, I assume your ISB and IS are patched up as well, you didn't mention it but these are the versions I have...

Inner Space v1.11 (Build 5521)
ISBoxer v40.1.227.1

Re: Cannot get ISBoxer to work with SWTOR

Yes, both ISB and IS are fully patched. Sorry I forgot to mention this.

My versions are:

IS: 1.11 (build 5533)
ISB: 40.1.229.1

One of the first things I tried was patching IS to the developers build. That was when it was crashing on the very first instance of SWTOR and did not help at all.

Will be posting my config as soon as I can follow your instruction thread.

BTW, just more info. This box is a custom-built $5000 gaming rig. Every component was top-of-the-line when I built it two years ago.

It can still run anything on the market at full throttle, and can also run 5 instances of WoW without breaking a sweat.

Re: Cannot get ISBoxer to work with SWTOR

Just used your configuration and it loaded up 2 clients just fine....

Can you take a look in C:\Users\[User Name]\AppData\Local\SWTOR\swtor\settings and see what your client_settings-swtor one.ini says, this is what mine has....
Code:
[Renderer]
AntiAliasingLevel = 0
Buckets = 2
D3DFullScreen = false
GraphicsDeviceId = 4225
Height = 1080
MeshLODQuality = 1
NativeHeight = 1080
NativeWidth = 1920
TextureAnisotropy = 16
Width = 1920
WindowX = 0
WindowY = 0
VerticalSyncState = false
FullScreen = false
EnableBloom = false
doShadows = false
doBlobShadows = false
AllowDepthOfField = false

[Game]
MoviesFolder = ..\..\Movies
SwtorRegKey = SOFTWARE\BioWare\Star Wars - The Old Republic

Pretty much have everything set to false, FullScreen and doShadows for sure you want to set to false

Re: Cannot get ISBoxer to work with SWTOR

Okies, make sure to copy and paste these into your 2 ini files

EnableBloom = false
doShadows = false
doBlobShadows = false
AllowDepthOfField = false

And set AntiAliasingLevel = 0

This will free up a metric shiz ton of resources, better to start off with low quality settings and ramp up to better once everything is working.

Brother, that seems to have done the trick. They are both up and running. Gonna play around and make sure, but thanks for the assistance.
