What does the [Sync Viewers] option do? Exactly what does it synchronize?
You're making changes in a specific window, if you switch to another window you no longer have the views or sources from the window you switched away from, because they are attached to that window still. So you can Sync things to the other windows to make this easier.
Sync Viewers takes all of the Video FX
Viewers (specifically, just Viewers not Sources) from the current window, and copies them exactly to the other windows.
When setting up the viewer, the drop-down menu button offers a selection of viewers. To what does "is2" refer?
The drop-down menu offers you a selection of Video FX
Sources -- not viewers... These are names in the drop-down box, of the available sources. There's automatically a source named is1, is2, is3, is4, etc depending on how many instances you're running. If you select any of the sources from the drop-down box, the video fx tab pre-populates with the size information from the Source, for you to just click Add for a pre-sized View.
What is the purpose of the [Sync] option?
This takes whatever is currently in the editor window, and sends it to the other game clients. Whether it is a Source or a Viewer.
Note that only one window at a time can provide a source with a particular name, so to Sync a Source with this, follow the format "name#", as in you have a name and then your Slot number. For example, every game window might have a "target" box that you can use as a Source. In window 1, you would label it "target1". If it's in the same place in every window, you can click Sync to automatically make the same Source in every Window (automatically naming them target2, target3, and so on).
What is the purpose of the [Apply] option? I ask this because when I click apply it does not appear to save the configuration state anywhere. If this is the case, do I need to go back to the ISBoxer Control Panel and save it again?
When you click Apply it takes the state of whatever you put in the editor window, and applies it to the Video FX Source or Viewer that you are editing. It lets you type in a number, click Apply, and see the changes reflected on the source or view.
If you're dragging the source or view, you will notice that the numbers in the window do not automatically update to the actual size; re-select the source or view (e.g. by clicking on the source or view you just dragged) to reflect the changes you made from dragging.
What is the purpose of the Enable Video FX Focus Hotkey selection? Is this optional?
If something isn't
optional, there's not an
option for it........
There is a configurable Hotkey in your Character Set called "Video FX (switch to window) hotkey". It defaults to Alt+Mouse1. If you enable this option on your Video FX Viewer, it allows you to use the Hotkey while moused over the view, to focus the window.
So, say on one screen I have my 4 Diablo 3 windows in "Full Screen Stacked" and on my other screen I have all 4 of the full windows shown with Video FX views, then I have the
option of being able to
Alt+Mouse1 on one of those views to bring the main window to the front of my "full screen stack".
Or, I have a Video FX view of mana pools from each game client next to where the game shows health bars, I can Alt+Mouse1 on one of those to bring that window -- the source -- to the front.
