G13 or Razer Nostromo?

Hey guys, I'm looking to get one of these devices and was wondering if anyone had used them and could give me your thoughts. I guess the Nostromo is the new Belkin N52te? They look exactly alike save for the logo.

Anyway, I know the G13 is natively supported in ISBoxer, but is the Nostromo?

I have the G19 keyboard and rarely use the LCD display, so I don't think I need the display feature of the G13 as much. So I guess comfort and ease of use are my top desires. For instance, the G13 looks like it has more keys, but are they easy to click every one of them? Or do you find yourself only using the ones closest to your fingers?

And aside from the G13's display, is there anything one device has that the other doesn't?

Appreciate all your input!

Re: G13 or Razer Nostromo?

It was originally called Nostromo Speedpad n52 - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nostromo_SpeedPad_n52

Razer's page for it says "Developed with Belkin" - http://store.razerzone.com/store/razeru ... .221675100

So yeah, I will have to pick one up and see what they changed from the original, which was natively supported. My other Razer products (and I love my Naga) are not.

As far as the button layout, I prefer the G13. Sure, the keys I use the most are on or next to the buttons your fingers should rest on, but most of the buttons find a use. For example I use the M-keys for different toggles (configured through ISBoxer) like MR for a Repeater toggle.

Re: G13 or Razer Nostromo?

Lax, I appreciate the response. I've been reading countless reviews on them this morning and have found about as many different opinions. I called my local best buy and they have a razer in stock, but not a G13 which swayed me heavily towards the nostromo, lol. So I think I'm going to grab that today and start testing it out.

I'll download your button tester program and try to play with that tonight if i have time. All the software looks very similar to the version from my Razer naga mouse, so I am guessing that like the naga, the nostromo won't be natively supported either. Will let you know as soon as I can.

Re: G13 or Razer Nostromo?

:(

Nothing at all on the button test script within the console, or when using your downloadable tool. I pressed some of my G keys on my G19 keyboard and saw how they showed up just fine. But anything I tried pressing on the nostromo wasn't registering at all. I even went into the nostromo utility and disabled all the keymaps like your post said to do. But still, no go on any of the buttons. So it looks like the Razer Nostromo won't be natively supported - just like the naga mouse.

And to confirm, this is the "Razer Nostromo" - it has the razer logo on the device and everything. The only thing about belkin is a sticker on the box that says "developed with belkin".

If you want me to test or try anything else out with the device, just let me know and I'd be happy to.

Re: G13 or Razer Nostromo?

The original also wouldn't have shown up in the button tester program if that makes you feel any better :)

Try this thread, which may still be accurate: http://www.dual-boxing.com/showthread.php?t=21022
The part about editing InputDevices.XML can be done through ISBoxer's Input Device Editor (from the File menu) now though
