New Proc upgrade

I'm looking for some help and suggestions for a new motherboard and processor. I bought the asus sabertooth motherboard and amd 6200 processor a couple months ago and am seriously unimpressed. I would like to buy a new motherboard and processor and before I go wasting another 400-500 dollars I was wondering if some tech savvy could help me out. I multibox 5 wow accounts and with current amd 6200 proc I have a 680 video card, ssd and 16 gigs of ram. I'm looking at purchasing an a P8z77-v motherboard and the I7-3990k processor. I'd just really like to know if this is the best motherboard and processor I can buy to help improve my game performance. Currently I have to run wow with all graphic settings as low as possible and still only get 25-30 fps. Wondering if upgrading to a new processor will be sufficient or if I should just run several computes. I'd really like to run all the windows with as high settings as possible and still get 50+ fps.

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated,

Jonathan

Re: New Proc upgrade

The graphics settings are more GPU-bound than CPU-bound. Upgrading your CPU is not likely to help you achieve 16x anti-aliasing on 5 wow instances for example, because your 680 is going to be doing the anti-aliasing.

I don't see why you should only get 25-30 fps with your system on low graphics. Did you have a look at this? HOWTO: Tweak your framerate -- It might be something as simple as needing to disable vertical sync (which purposefully drops your framerate)

Re: New Proc upgrade

I have tried to tweak my fps and nothing seemed to work. I'll try to run my alts on my old comp to see how that works before I invest in a new processor and motherboard...

I know running windowed modes doesn't allow sli or xfire...but if I got a 2nd video card could I set alts up on a 2nd screen with a 2nd video card? and would that still allow window swapping?
thanks

Not without a significant performance hit. See GPU Management.
