Antivirus labeling Innerspace as malicious

So I run virus scans almost every 2-3 days full system scans. I wanted to give ISBoxer a chance because I am currently leveling 4 toons at once. I installed the bundler from the main website and ISBoxer installed fine and so did Innerspace. However as soon as I ran Inner space is was labeled as a Malicious Software by Norton and AVG.....

Just bought a 90 trial subscription that I can't even use right now =/

Anyone else ever have this problem? I have seen many horror stories about this program but I didn't want to believe it seeing the good stories as well. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Antivirus labeling Innerspace as malicious

Oh yeah? I've never seen a "horror story" about my software, and I've served tens of thousands of MMORPG players since Lavish started in 2004, and well before that with EQWatcher and other products.

I would direct you to this previous question (and its answer) for your non-specific "malicious software" issue: virus issue

Any "horror story" you have heard is probably FUD spread by the competition who have to try and find some way to compete in this market with their inferior products. There is nothing malicious about Inner Space/ISBoxer, there are many satisfied customers both here and on dual-boxing.com, the software is amazing and keeps getting better and the support is top-notch.

Of course you can, just tell your AV software that Inner Space is fine. Any sort of statistical testing is going to result in false positives, which is what has happened here.

I've been using IS Boxer for a few years now.
And have never had any issues with it.

Re: Antivirus labeling Innerspace as malicious

Not to beat a dead horse, but I've been using ISBoxer with World of Warcraft and LotRO for 1.5 years and I haven't had any issues with virus reports or (more importantly) stolen account information.

I got fed up with AVG's slow transition from useful software to advertising pipeline and switched to Microsoft Security Essentials, which doesn't flag ISBoxer or Innerspace as malicious. I don't trust AVG anymore and wouldn't use it if you paid me.

PS. Just for giggles I did a clean installation from the website and it doesn't get flagged as infected either.

Re: Antivirus labeling Innerspace as malicious

I'm always curious as to what the other horror stories are that people have heard.

As everyone has stated... the anti-virus issue is a false positive.

Re: Antivirus labeling Innerspace as malicious

Not posting as a horror story, but Norton is giving innerspace the false positive for a virus. It's been doing it to me for the past month. Norton's Sonar doesn't like the behavior.

I just keep telling Norton to ignore innerspace but you all know how well norton listens to the user... /shrug

Keep up the good work as always Lax..

Gee, there's a really stupid idea... files we haven't seen before must be viruses... Norton is NOT an anti-virus solution, it is a virus itself.

Re: Antivirus labeling Innerspace as malicious

I've been using Inner Space since 2007 and (if my memory serves me right) today i got my first false positive from antivirus program.
Achievement unlocked? I'm currently using AVG, i have also used other antivirus programs during these years.

Oh well, I have 99,9% confidence on Lax. ^^
Of course there is that 0,1% chance that someone hacked his file server, but i'm willing to risk it =P
