Broadcast Mode

I'm a total noob when it comes to multi boxing right now. I'm watching videos and trying to learn as fast as I can.

I have noticed that I have to switch between broadcast mode and follow mode. If I have those terms incorrect, I'm sorry.

Why?

When I'm in broadcast mode my characters "Run wild" in all different directions. I use the mouse to move and in broadcast mode its just increditble the odd directions my toons go. So, I have to turn off broadcast and select control F again to get them back in line again.

Just mounting. I have F1 as my hot key to mount. I have to go to broadcast mode select F1 and everyone mounts. Then, I turn off broadcast.... Press Control F and start moving again.

Just something as simple as wanting all my toons to mount and run is turning out to be a huge pain in the ass.

The only keys which seem to really "work" to all characters are keys 1 through 0 plus - and +. None of the other keys really work on all the characters.

Re: Broadcast Mode

FAQ: Why do my toons move in different directions?

Assuming you're playing World of Warcraft, you might consider checking out the Quick Start Guides for WoW. WoW Quick Start Guide: Quickly add many hotkeys, optionally with auto-assist covers setting up your mount hotkey as well as others beyond 1 through =.

If you're not playing WoW, that same information is also under Common modifications: The game's Action Bars

Re: Broadcast Mode

If you watched a few videos on how to make keys and didn't come away with "Use the Mapped Key Wizard" you may need to do less research. ;)

Re: Broadcast Mode

I noticed the Straight key broadcast didn't seem to do anything for me... but somehow the assist and broadcast seemed to work. I don't know why yet... but, I'll find out sooner or later.

No.

You will need to know which is appropriate for what kind of thing... If you want your guys to press 2 and you use Straight Key Broadcast, it's just going to press 2. If they needed a target in order to do something when you press 2, then it might help to Assist first, or they will do nothing. Assist is what makes everyone take the same target as the guy you're playing.

So... for something like "Mount", you would use a Straight Key Broadcast for F1. Mount takes no target.

On the other hand, for something like "Firebolt", this takes a target. If you use Straight Key Broadcast, you are expected to make sure your guys get the right target on their own. Assist and Broadcast is appropriate for this kind of ability.
