Strobing sounds like botting to me

Correct me please if I'm wrong, but doesn't Jamba strobing cause a follow command to be issued without a key stroke, repeatedly (after you turn it on)? Wouldn't this be considered botting, technically, and so possibly flag anti-botting software in an MMOG and potentially get a 'boxer penalized?

Certainly harmless, but I think it may be stepping a bit over the line.

Re: Strobing sounds like botting to me

Well it only applies to WoW in the first place, since Jamba is a WoW Addon.

Auto-follow is not a restricted part of the WoW Addon API, meaning that any WoW Addon can issue an auto-follow instruction without you pressing a key. Given that, they would be more likely to simply add the restriction to the FollowUnit function in the WoW API, than to ban you for using an Addon that uses the API.

In other words, no you will not be banned for using Jamba's Follow Strobing feature.

Re: Strobing sounds like botting to me

Thank you lax, I feel a bit better. My apologies for posting this in the wrong area. My first thought was for my fellow 'boxer, in any game, and trying to help the community by keeping it's life out of any possible grey area subject to someone's interpretation rather than a clear policy.

I suppose it would help if I read enough to find out what was restricted in the API for developers; not being in the software end of things it hadn't occurred to me to do that, I had frustratingly looked other places for rule clarification (the "rule of thumb is don't do anything you can't do in an in-game Macro" advice isn't very explanatory or accurate).
