Custom CPU Strategy

Hi, is there anyway to do the following.

I use Round Robin CPU Strat, assigning 1 CPU per each client.
I'm running 5 clients.

I have a Hex Core CPU.

Anyway to have my Main Window use the extra Core as the main Window Maxes out 1 core and things are choppy in town or large areas ? I can change the affinity manually, but whenever I make a change in task manager it makes things go choppy. I tried the assign all CPU's to all windows, but my game seems to only like using the first couple cores and things don't run so well.

Also would there be any way to assign Window to Above Normal Priority through Innerspace ?

Re: Custom CPU Strategy

Not sure on the priority changing.

Open up the IS Boxer Toolkit.
If you click on your team, under Character Sets (top left pane).
Then click on the '1' (and afterwards, the '2', '3', '4', '5', and '6') under the Slots section of the lower left pane.
In the lower right pane, switch to the second tab which is labelled 'Performance'.

You should see twelve cores listed.
There are actually six cores and their corresponding logical core for each.
So 1 and 2, are physically the same and should be put onto the same task.

If you were to assign 1, 2, 3, and 4 to the first instance of the game.
That would be giving it the extra core.
Then give 5/6 to game #2.
And 7/8 to game #3.
And 9/10 to game #4.
And 11/12 to game #5.

Re: Custom CPU Strategy

It depends on the game, doesn't it? WoW, for instance, will never use more than one core. I think ISBoxer will automatically assign one core to your main window and then round-robin the rest of them as long as you have more cores than game instances.

World of Warcraft definitely benefits from more than 1 core. You can even assign multiple cores directly through your config.wtf.

Re: Custom CPU Strategy

I guess what I was trying to say was that WoW is single-threaded and that there is no benefit to setting config.wtf to dedicate more than one core to WoW. If you *dedicate* a core then you've got all the bang you're going to get.

If you have more cores than WoW instances I believe that ISBoxer (by default) lets Win determine how to assign cores.

But I could be wrong; I'm not an OS mechanic.
