Basic Multi-Boxing Strategy
Hey guys,
I recently moved by prot/ret paladin to a second account so I could run with my priest to do achievements and other things easier. I started just doing manual two boxing, by alt tabbing and such. I could function decently. But my wife is out of town, and she wants me to play her character to do some of her achievement endeavors while shes away (ZG mount run, MGT mount run, ect).
So I am three boxing with priest healer, paladin tank, and arcane mage. All three are set up as single played characters with good gear. I'm thinking the best thing to do is play the tank as normal and set up the priest and mage to act as slaves. I did a test run in hMGT last night with very little setting up. I made grid, on my paladin, a repeater to my priest. Installed clique (not normally used) and bound a couple basic heals. Then, I have 1-= keybound (via the automatic setup) for dps abilities. They are the same keybinds used for solo play.
I got some decent results... tanked as normal, mage and priest fired off random dps abilities as I cycled through my tanking abilities. About the only adjustment I made was to put arcane explosion, holy nova, and consecrate on the same button (for obvious reasons).
Am I "doin it right" ?
The ideal mage dps rotation is Arcane Blast X4 Then, depending on procs, Arcane Missiles or Arcane Barrage. I was kind of thinking about putting a cast sequence macro on the mage that did ABx4, AM... But is there a way I could progress the cast sequence while doing my normal tanking rotation (1-7ish). Or, do you have any tips to have a mage preform more optimally when acting as a slave to a prot paladin? I think the random dps I get from my healer doing smite and holy nova is okay, seeing as his primary function is covered through repeater/grid/clique. But the mage should be doing much higher dps. Is there a way I can easily work in Blizzard? What about having the casters stop auto following when the paladin goes in to tank, and start following again after combat?
I think I have the technical aspect of the application down, and what I'm really looking for are multi-boxing strategies in general.
Thanks in advance for any help people may offer.
