more of a hardware question

I've 10x on my new pc several weeks back and I was happy with the performance, I did patchwerk without any problems as the weekly.
I don't remember doing anything special to get all 10x working, I just set the FPS to 30 forground/10 background.
long story short... disk crash.. rebuilt PC... now it doesn't work.

last night I was trying to do patchwerk again and I wanted to 10 box him and I couldn't get 10 copies of wow running.
somewhere between 8 & 10 copies my machine started thrashing, the number of pages faults on each wow went from 0-20 to 50k-90k on each.
the whole system was nearly unusable, bringing up the task manager was very slow.
I tried disabling lots of addons and I tried reducing resolution some which seemed to help some but I never could get that 10th account going.
I ended up 9 boxing him.

I'm only using about 6G of my 12G of ram so it's not a main memory issues (at least I think it's not) , I can only assume the video card is swapping out memory?
before the thrashing starts the performance is great, only using about 20-30% overall CPU.

any suggestions that I should try to get that 10th copy of wow going?

Re: more of a hardware question

If you're feeling adventurous, come to the ISBoxer Chat Room for a link to the current ISBoxer 36 preview build. You might be able to use some of the new features to run some of your guys on a smaller resolution while 10 boxing, assuming you don't need mouse broadcasting to cover all of them. I'm going to try that out myself soon.

But I guess I would have to ask how you have the cpu cores assigned. Different than before maybe? I don't really have a good idea as for what to really check for this particular issue though

Re: more of a hardware question

I tried everything last night PC wise, I had no CPU assignments and 8 cores ( HT enabled ) , no assignments and 4 CPU ( HT disabled ), CPU assignments of 2 cores per wow (HT disabled )
I guess I should make sure that all copies of wow are using the lowest possible video settings, I'll try that next.

There is a know issue with the latest build of WoW.exe. As it is a 32-bit program, it only has access to 2gb of RAM at any one time. If ANY one of the copies goes over that, then it will cause an out-of-memory error.

Blizzard has stated in the last patch that they did they attempt to fix the memory issues. It has fixed it on my end as well as everyone else I know that was getting that error. What you say still holds true [mostly] for 32 bit programs though I am not denying that.
