Virtual Files Outside of the Game's Installation Folder
Hey guys. Having a problem with Virtual Files when they're located outside the game's install directory.
Playing Runes of Magic. Mostly using ISBoxer as a window organizer. All macros, key broadcasting/repeating, etc. are not being used. I just need these characters to be logged in and sit in a single place to apply a party drop rate buff.
So I could run those characters at lowest game resolution and detail settings, I made a second install. Everything works great, except that the game has a preferences file outside of the install directory that it writes all addon data to (unless they've been migrated to the new SaveVariablesPerCharacter API, but 90% have not been written for it). For reference, they're located in %User%\Documents\Runes of Magic\SaveVariables.lua. The game only writes to that file when returning to the character selection screen or gracefully logging out, so I've been able to work around it a bit by Alt+F4'ing when I closing the secondary install.
However, it seems like it would be far simpler to just use a Virtual File. I tried adding one, but I can't find a way to virtualize a file that exists outside of the game's installation folder.
Any ideas?
