I think I am an idiot...

HAHAHA! MENSA I.Q. of 156 don't mean shizzle half the time!

Okay, I watched the cool little video, just install this click that and BOOM! You have a full party mimicking your every command! I was sold...

Then I downloaded the software, followed the wizards instructions and all seemed fine. Multi-client loaded without a hitch, had good framerate, playing EQ[1] so used the 'ol target-click /follow command to get where i needed to go, and moment of truth...

I pressed forward and pulled a mob with my trusty dwarf paladin, my iksar necro began running around in huge circles pulling half the zone on himself and died, the rogue ran way past me then came back but wouldn't do anything as far as combat is concerned without switching windows, which I can do without any special program, and my beastlord started swimming in place on the sand and refused to accept any commands at all afterward.

Is there an explained out, in detail, tutorial for people running this the first time somewhere. Like a ground up explanation?

Can this actually do what it claimed for WoW on EverQuest? Or is it only if you have that special WoW pack on WoW?

I would really like to be able to have the alternate characters automated/botted but that did seem to good to be true anyway.

As far as having multiple windows open and performing basic, non-intelligent macro commands, I could do that without software. Please tell me I'm missing something and also show me where I can fill that void. At this point I'm considering writing off the investment and uninstalling because it was NOWHERE NEAR as simple as the fast talking guy [probably the one that invented the software] in the video made it out to be.

The guy in the video is MiRai and he's not me and doesn't sound like me. ;)
I'm this guy: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NmS5DmaIVEc

For starters the other windows not doing anything without switching windows is avoided simply by using the Quick Setup Wizard and selecting EverQuest when asked what game to configure (first page of the wizard, first drop-down box). This will ensure that your Character Set has the "Make game believe it is foreground window" option enabled. To solve this issue for your existing Character Set(s), just select it in the top left pane and then in the bottom right, check the box (as an added hint it has several games suggested next to it, including EQ1).

No the thing for WoW is that there's an Addon system built into the game that allows ISBoxer to create a custom Addon that can set up in-game key bindings configured to perform in-game macros. (in EQ1 they called these kinds of macros Socials, I assume you already knew that and we're on the same page here).

For other games you set up the in-game key bindings and in-game macros yourself, and ISBoxer has some other ways to get similar feature sets in WoW. MiRai even made a video showing how to do it in EQ2 and LOTRO that should also pretty much apply to EQ1. :) Common modifications: The game's Key Bindings has both step-by-step instructions and said video on the right.

Hope this helps. :)

Re: I think I am an idiot...

Just put about 3 more hours into [attempting] figuring this out and I am just not getting it. So frustrated I want to kick the ba-jezus out my 47" ProView flat panel right now.

So far it serves as a great way to quickly switch from one screen to the next. I even attempted to simplify things by trying just a dual-box to get started.

I watched the video maybe 5 times already and feel i should be able to do this with my eyes closed, but for some reason nothing seems to work.

I get the target thing to work, but then the follow/assist commands don't, I play with the "key maps on/off" and "broadcast on/off" features and can sometimes get my alt to attack or follow but then everytime I move it'll go running off in the opposite direction. When I try to setup any of the alternate key map features it doesn't seem to work. I even went to the extent of creating hot keys on different hot key bars as to not confuse the program into pressing the same buttons, but ultimately can't seem to get it to remain functional from one pull to the next.

Don't get me wrong, it's a great idea and for someone with some programming knowledge and that understands the gui and what the references mean, I am sure it works like a charm just like in the videos. For me, working as a police officer and part time security supervisor while juggling my 5 year old, I simply don't have the time to read the massive amount of instructions just to figure out the gui and what it all means.

Since EQ is so old, I doubt you'll be releasing a simplified version with a more user friendly gui in the future. I mean, even the wizard seemed simple enough, and I did export the info to the Inner Space thing, and ran the console and it says everything is fine also... I just don't have any idea what I am doing wrong. I know it must be something I'll kick myself for if i ever figure it out, but I just don't know I have the patience for it.

Thanks for everything and sorry if I offended you. BTW you remind me of a best friend I had in high school. "More crappy loot!" LOL! Epic.

Re: I think I am an idiot...

everytime I move it'll go running off in the opposite direction

FAQ: Why do my toons move in different directions? -- in short, that's going to happen if you broadcast your movement keys. If you have broadcasting enabled, then all windows are going to copy exactly what you press in the main window, which means if you press W they're going to walk in whatever direction they're facing. If you have Key Maps off, then pretty much any Hotkeys you set up in ISBoxer will be disabled (i.e. follow, assist, target, attack). So, generally (99% of the time for this type of MMO) you want "Broadcasting" disabled, and Key Maps enabled.

To go any further in helping you it will help to see what you've actually attempted to configure. HOWTO: Share your configuration for better support
