Broadcasting to multiple clients

Hi All

Just subscribed to IsBoxer for a year :D As is an absolutely amazing tool that does Exactly what i was looking for to multibox 5 accounts / characters in Eve Online.
What I'd like to know is if its possible to have 4 clients controlled via mouse / keyboard broadcasting and have the 5th on manual control so to speak, IE not recieving the broadcasting from the other 4 clients?

Many Thanks

Benjamin

Re: Broadcasting to multiple clients

Thanks Guys, Perfect :D

1 other issue if i may...

I'm running 5 clients / Accounts, IsBoxer is selecting the correct username for the 1st 3 slots, but for slots 4 and 5 it is using the same usename as slot 3.
I have tried using the virtual file wizzard to update to the core_public.yxml, but this has not resolved the issue.

Any help apreciated.

Thanks again

Re: Broadcasting to multiple clients

I'm having the same issue with usernames coming up randomized . I originally created the 6 character set and the screen configuration on a HD that later died and did not have this problem. After the HD died and Eve had issued at least one expansion and of course, several dozen hotfixes and down time fixes....sigh.... On the new new computer, I re-created the 6 character set and same screen configutration, again following the directiions. However, now the 6 character icon is bringing up the 6 character set with the usernames showing up randomized. If I had done a regular shutdown of each character, then restarted using the icon for the 6 character set to start up, the clients will have the 6 usernames randomized. I have two additional accounts which are not in a character set and I use a different icon to call them up. If I have logged in to either of those accounts and then use the 6 character set icon, the 7th and/or 8th usernames will be in the randomized usernames brought up by the 6 characrter icon. Sometimes all 6 will have the same username.

I have attempted to correct this by changing the config files, but have always had to replace the changed file with the copy of the original file I made before making any changes. Disasters came with the changed files and returning the copy of the original files brought me back to my "new" normal.

I have since been living with the cumbersome resetting of unsernames. To add to my frustration, I will occasionally forget to set the default repeater position from on to off, typically when I get to the 5th or 6th character and will reset the ones I have just reset to the same userneame as the 5th or 6th character. I have tried resetting char 1, entering the PW and moving on down the line, but the PWs are all the same and I have to wait for each client to move thru the different sizes before proceeding to the next one. I have not had success setting the repeater key from default on to default off. Being able to have each instance come up with the right usernamer would solve all the other problems I'm having with logging on.

On a side note - I'm not always sure when reading the instructions if your use of "character name" is referring to the username of the account or the character's name of the group of pixels running around the screen.

Love the product!!!
Thank you.

Re: Broadcasting to multiple clients

When you set up your Character Set using the Quick Setup Wizard, it asks you to enter the names in the order you will log into the accounts. In order for your Action Target Groups to be correctly assigned to the right Characters, you have to be sure to log into each of your guys in the window that ISBoxer expects them to be in. This is the trick that you guys are missing at the moment (and I have a long term solution for this in mind, but not yet implemented).

So.. easiest way to correct this:
1. Launch your Character Set
2. Wait until they're all up
3. From the ISBoxer interface, do an Export to Inner Space. THIS WILL POP UP TEXT IN EVERY SINGLE GAME WINDOW THAT IS CURRENTLY OPEN, DESCRIBING WHICH CHARACTER IT THINKS SHOULD BE IN THAT WINDOW!
4. Read the popup text in each window and log into the correct account in each one

This should solve the apparent randomness. After you've logged into the correct account in each window, it should be stored correctly by the game so you don't have to do this again. ;)

On a side note - I'm not always sure when reading the instructions if your use of "character name" is referring to the username of the account or the character's name of the group of pixels running around the screen.

It's actually irrelevant to ISBoxer for any game but WoW at the moment, since it will use the "character name" in the generated WoW Addon and WoW macros. It depends on how specific you want to be with your configuration for a particular game. For most games, or if you don't need to differentiate between actual Characters, then you can use it to mean an account. For these situations I usually just name them like "EVE one", "EVE two", "EVE three" for example, and then I always use the same account in each of the windows. All that matters as far as ISBoxer is concerned is that they are each in the window that I told ISBoxer they are in, so that any custom mappings go to the right place.

Re: Broadcasting to multiple clients

I resolved the username issue myself by manually editing the core_charname_yxml virtual file for each character and changing the username specified to the correct 1 for each charter.
With ingame help i was also able to set the broadcasting so i can turn it on and off for each individule character by having that character leave or join the ATG Group

Heres an ingame screenshot to say a big thank you for creating an incredibly usefull boxing app :D

Re: Broadcasting to multiple clients

Sorry for the long delay between asking a question and being able to act on the answer! There s this thing ppl refer to as "real life" that has been interjecting itself....

Lax, your answer was spot on! Thank you! That will simplify logging on sooooo much!

Benjamin, I want to thank you for offering a solution which worked for you, and I plan to root around in those files for something else which mitch interest me. It has been a while since I was trying to solve this on my own and it seems like the "Core_***" files" I found were not "Core_Char" files and I tend to handle files from the other side of the moon like those with kid gloves. I always make a copy before changing a space or removing a comma.

I am now building "special teams" of characters and it seems like I have to copy the characters in the character list to place them in more than char set. I'll see how that goes.

Thanks again!!!
