Having trouble getting innerspace running

I have downloaded today the install of innerspace and IS boxer. I have a win7 box as my main machine and (ultimately) i have a winxp box i want to put some of my chars on. The issue I am having is I can't get innerspace to run.

I have installed WoW on a spare hard drive (e:). I first installed isboxer and innerspace on the c drive and isboxer started but innerspace didn't. I uninstalled both isboxer and innerspace and reinstalled it on e: but it still doesn't start innerspace.

It downloads a patcher and then appears to patch but inner space doesn't start - no process in task manager (even with "all users" processes showing) and nothing in the system tray. I have run innerspace.exe as administrator and that is not helping either.

It is not creating a gameconfiguration.xml either.

help!

Re: Having trouble getting innerspace running

<CaptainObvious>Sounds like something is stopping Inner Space from running</CaptainObvious>

Inner Space always pops up a notification to Run as Administrator, unless you have the notifications disabled in Windows in which case it will not be allowed to run as Administrator and it probably wont work without some registry hacks (or by manually running it as Administrator).

Something (either a windows setting or some installed software) is interfering and apparently not telling you about it, and your job is to find out what it is...

First question, does it run fine on your XP machine? I'm guessing it would.

Did you block Inner Space in Windows firewall? Are you running any security/antivirus software that might be interfering for some reason? If so, can you temporarily shut it down and try without?

Re: Having trouble getting innerspace running

I have run it as administrator and same result (actually it's set to run as administrator always now). I have no installed AV on that box atm as it was a fresh install of win7 for the purpose. It is not running on the xp box either.

Last night my bf who used to mbox copied a very old version to one of my machines and logged in as him which worked fine.

This morning I have deleted all versions of innerspace and isboxer and am, as I type, downloading the isboxer bundle to try again. If this doesn't work i'll try sanitising his copy and logging in as me.

Ok I have got it going... in a really dirty way and who knows if it will continue working LOL. This time the install went so far as to create a innerspace.txt which read...

Re: Having trouble getting innerspace running

Definitely sounds like a permissions issue if the OS is preventing it from opening those files for reading.

Copying an existing install is fine -- I would recommend deleting InnerSpace.XML though.
