Weird problem. Multiple displays/videocards

I've followed the instructions here: http://isboxer.com/index.php/guides/21- ... ideo-cards

I have 3 displays and 3 5850 ATI Video cards.

I one one display plugged into each video card. My performance is poor on my second and third screens. 10-15fps meanwhile my main display is doing 60 fps and ive set resolution on my slaves to 800x600, which is even extra odd.

Im checking the load level of the video cards via ATI Catalyst tool and the other 2 video cards stick at 0% and sometimes go to 10% meanwhile the primary card is doing 60 to 99% usage. So I'm assuming the system i using the primary card for all processing. The FPS limiter is set to off for foreground/background.

Im running windows 7 which is a fresh install and use ATI latest video drivers.

any suggestions?

Re: Weird problem. Multiple displays/videocards

If you followed the guide and have 1 monitor on each of 3 cards, you should have at least 3 Inner Space profiles for the same game, one with each of Display 1 2 and 3 selected. Then ISBoxer should be configured to use the displays -- the desired game/game profile should be selected per Character. This and this alone will select the monitor the game will be assigned to, and by extension the GPU that will render it regardless of which screen the window is placed on or moved to at the time (which is why there is a performance hit if you move the window from monitor A to monitor B in this scenario).

Other than that, Swap should be disabled on your Window Layout, which if you're playing 3 characters should probably have 1 window on each screen.

Thanks for the reply.

when you mean profile, do you mean under InnerSpace -> Game Configuration?

I added 5 profiles and assigned a profile to the specific display.

Im controlling 5 characters, I have 2 characters on the secondary displays and 1 character on my main display.

also when you mean swap, do you mean instant swap? i had that enabled, I will disable it and give it a try.

Re: Weird problem. Multiple displays/videocards

No, I mean Swap not Instant Swap. The one right above Instant Swap (which wont matter if it's on). If Swap is enabled, at all, then the windows are going to be switching between monitors onto the other video card. That will result in a performance hit. This option does not determine which GPU does the rendering.

As far as your IS profiles, again you only need 3, one for each of your 3 displays. If you selected the Display in the Game Configuration tab, then the GPU powering that monitor should be used. If that setting is still Application Controlled (default) then it is up to the game to select the display, and most games are just going to use the primary display (and thus the primary GPU). This is assuming Crossfire is disabled and you have one monitor plugged into each of the 3 video cards. That's kind of in the guide but the last guy who said he followed the guide had no idea what I was talking about with IS profiles and only had one monitor (which is why only one GPU would do any work with Crossfire disabled)

Re: Weird problem. Multiple displays/videocards

I figured otu the problem. I just stuck all 3 screens on the same video card and turned on Crossfire. Now I get 60fps on all windows.

Another problem appeared after 4.0.1

whenever i start up my game, it will load 1 WoW instance but then the 2nd one just sits there. I can see it in my process list but it wont do anything. like its stuck on something.

anyone else experience this? ill have to select my team a few times before itll kick in
