Request - Twitch chat overlays

Hey,

I was trying a lot of different stuff today in order to see if I could get a nice chat overlay for my main window. I did figure it half way out by using Better TTV addon for Firefox, Chat popout, and configuring a Video FX viewer but it's sort of a hack that I don't feel is a something that I'll stick to. Another way to do it is configuring it via OBS software, which is the same deal really. There are issues with transparency, resizing, can't minimize the chat window or it won't update, lots of config to do whenever you start it up again, etc.

Via OBS it's possible to output a portion of a window, in this case the chat popout. You'd then select the inner window and with TTV Firefox/Chrome addon, you'd set the background to black, and finally one can apply Chroma Key in the OBS settings. This makes for a great looking transparent chat which will ONLY output the chat lines - it does look great. But again, there are issues as described above - AND - it's only viewable on the actual stream and not in game. This is what would be fantastic to see with ISBoxer. Maybe even direct chat interaction to top it all off. Tall order, I know. But the results would be fabulous.

Perhaps a dedicated chat overlay with background transparency and solid config options would be something for ISBoxer? Well, who knows, maybe someone have found a good solution already.. please do let me know if you got something. I've tried searching all over the place.

So.. if Lax is looking for new things to do, there you go :-)

Re: Request - Twitch chat overlays

Is it for your own channel? Twitch SDK used to let me set up chat for you to join other channels, but they changed it to only support your channel.

If it's for your own channel, the available Twitch Streaming Integration will let you chat without streaming through it, if you like. Instead of clicking Start Streaming, you can click the Chat button and then close the streaming configuration window.

Otherwise I don't currently have a better idea for you :)
