Starting sessions on other computer.

Hi,
I'm trying to start up a character set with one character on my primary pc and two on another pc on the same network.
However all I get on the primary pc in the uplink console is "Connection to COMPUTER2 on port 12345 failed"

I have tried turning the firewalls off on both pcs.
I have tried adding innerspace to the allowed programs on both pcs.
I have looked at the logs on the router and there is no mention of anything being blocked.

I am running the development version of Inner Space if that could be causing the problem.

Any suggestions appreciated.

Thanks.

Re: Starting sessions on other computer.

Sorry I missed this post.

Here are the possible reasons you might get "Connection to COMPUTER2 on port 12345 failed":
1. The computer is not set to use port 12345 in the main IS window
2. Port 12345 is not open on the computer
3. The computer is not named COMPUTER2
4. The hostname COMPUTER2 could not be resolved by name

Here are the solutions for each:
1. On that computer, in Inner Space configuration, the port would have to be changed to 12345 instead of the default 10101
2. The firewall on that computer would have to either be disabled, or an exception needs to be added for 12345, or an exception needs to be added for Inner Space itself. (Your router is not usually responsible for blocking network traffic between PCs that are "inside" your router's network)
3. The computer name is found in the System control panel. If it doesn't match, it definitely won't resolve for #4.
4. If your computer name can't be resolved by name, you will need to enter the local network IP address of that PC in the "Computer" configured for it in ISBoxer, so ISBoxer can connect to it by IP instead of by name. You can find its IP address by going to the Network Connections in windows (you can get to this through the Networking control panel areas), right click the one connecting you to your local network and in the Properties page there should be a Details window that shows your IP Address (or "IPv4 address"). Example: 192.168.1.123. When you select a Computer in the top pane in ISBoxer, the IP address can be entered in the bottom right pane under "IP Address or hostname"
